Ope! I like reading, knitting, traveling and some other things, too. I’m also a librarian, but opinions are my own. (she/her)

And again. Let me spite this Republican office Every. Single. Day.
This made me call my awful Congressman and leave a message asking him to support the removal and prosecution of all these other awful people.
if bovino is out and conservatives are turning on noem then there is a real opportunity to demand that miller resign too.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

@kaine.senate.gov does not want to listen to or even hear from his constituents. Utterly unacceptable.
@kaine.senate.gov Having no option for your constituents to leave phone messages outside of office hours is unprofessional and frankly cowardly.

ICE just shot another one of my neighbors. They had the person on the ground, being beaten by several agents, and then fired multiple shots. In front of the donut shop where we like to get donuts for our kids.

We recently received a patron request to relicense an expired title. The cost: $124.99 for a 24 month license. I simply don’t even know what to do with that.
No surprise to librarians, but perhaps surprising to users, demands/prices for ebooks /audiobooks are killing public library budgets. David Szalay's book, Flesh,” costs DCPL:
$28.99 hardcopy
$59.99 ebook
$69.99 audiobook
DCPL owns hardcopy; rents & must repurchase ebook & audio book every 2 yrs.
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

Good morning friends, from the Wicked Witch of the Whistle Coven!

We had dozens of requests over the past 48 hours which makes me SO HAPPY! But part of filling small orders is more shipping costs. $5-7 covers us shipping out 100 whistles to radicalize a PTA!

If you'd like to help, hit the GFM!

I’m screaming
I have the utmost respect for Senator Kaine and Senator Warner but we do not need “coaching” on redistricting coming from a cuck chair in the corner. How about you all stay focused on the fascist in the White House and let us handle redistricting in Virginia. 10-1

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you can buy a small yet very adequate megaphone at Harbor Freight for under $15 and then you can be ready to heckle your local Republican politicians or ICE at any time.

They want projects that "explore innovative alternatives to traditional credentialing and librarian education [and] explore cutting edge tools and fresh topics in the content and provision of continuing education."

Organizers in Twin Cities making rare plea for folks to share broadly:
ICE ops have changed & escalated this week. They've moved to a 'flood-the-zone' strategy, nabbing anyone they can from bus stops, the sidewalk, cars, or homes. This means indiscriminate abductions and obviously no warrants.

This was a fabulous start to my reading year: an engaging & intimate character study taking place over the course of a day. Its tone is funny yet wanting. The camaraderie between the nail salon workers is lovingly rendered, yet kept at arm’s length. Incisive commentary & quiet internal conflict.
