Ope! I like reading, knitting, traveling and some other things, too. I’m also a librarian, but opinions are my own. (she/her)

Walking into the British sporting art gallery at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and literally guffawing loudly enough to echo throughout the room when I saw this perfect, perfect painting.
Lol, this hat pattern. I am so delighted.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

We have the newest casualty of the “parents rights," movement in Texas! And we can thank Sen. Angela Paxton’s “parental rights” school library bill (SB 13) for keeping Texas kids safe from Pretty Perfect Kitty Corn in Southlake, TX (Carroll ISD). @shannonhale.bsky.social

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Sneaking today’s WIP in under the wire for this #ShowMeYourKnits. It may look done, but I swear this was my last try-on to determine if it was the right length. It still needs to be bound off. Pattern is a free one called Coline by Audrey Borrego. Yarn’s Hobbii Unicorn Solid in Teal & Sea Foam.

Some delicate cables for this week’s #ShowMeYourKnits! This top is Audrey Borrego’s Oread using Hjertegarn New Arezzo. It’s been a go-to piece for me this year since I finished it in early June.

The best food I’ve eaten so far on this trip to Crete is [stay with me] pork with prunes.

Oh, Crete: you are one magnificent island. So dramatic at every turn. Good golly.

The library is one of the best things this country has to offer and everyone should be taking advantage of their local branch. Also librarians are some of the best people who will consistently fight for your right to read.

I’ve been neglecting #ShowMeYourKnits recently, so here are my Bibliogloves in progress. Yarn is Zealanda Rimu DK, a blend of merino and possum that I picked up in Wanaka, New Zealand earlier this year. They’ll replace my alpaca gloves that I got in Peru 11 years ago that finally (sadly) bit it.

I’ve been in PA this weekend and lucked out with timing to get a new Covid shot. No hassle/ confirmation of “high risk” category. I think the new lady at the CVS counter forgot to ask for my health insurance. I didn’t pay anything? Meanwhile, back in VA, I can’t even get it without a prescription!
