Sunday, a permitted commercial shoot for Rivian shut down a section of Lake Washington Boulevard during the penultimate Bicycle Weekends open streets event. It wasn't just any Bicycle Weekend day, though, it was also Bike & Scoot Sundays (PDF), an accessible cycling event in which SDOT, Lime and Bird partner with Outdoors for All to lend out adaptive cycles for free that people with a wide range of disabilities can ride along what was supposed to be a car-free Lake Washington Boulevard.

Awesome project. Made possible because First Nation lands are entirely exempt from local zoning controls to height, area, density, lot coverage, and the useless land use permit process. The project was opposed by neighbors who couldn’t appeal it. This is how all housing should be built

I have no clue why this is the hill Stancil wants to die on. We have all sorts of empirical evidence that the costs of housing and transportation in particular have risen faster than incomes, especially in the large cities that form the base of the Democratic Party.
The basic problem, which cannot be avoided, is that the cost of living crisis is fake. It is not real. It is a hallucination. And that means, no matter how hard you try, you cannot placate people by lowering the cost of living. It’s like trying to cure hypochondria with chemotherapy.

We've updated our story on the acceleration of Federal Way Link, after getting a lot of questions about being able to maintain existing headways on the 1 Line. The answer is there are no operational impacts expected from extending the line to Federal Way.
