I am not a lawyer, just a historian, but one fundamental problem with the political debate about the EU, especially in English publications is that the whole principle of the acquis communnitaire is not understood or taken seriously. The EU is a framework of rules, not an alliance.

Tech should be enabling for staff and patients not disabling. This requires humility & problem solving.

Humility because tech that over reaches creates frustration & poor performance.

Problem solving to address actual challenges that people face, not asking what an exciting bit of tech can do.

What is the low hanging fruit for tech in the NHS & social care?

Many may jump to the possibilities of AI

But I’d argue it’s 1) modernisation to reduce legacy systems that eat up time & money 2) designing pathways & processes to consolidate tech & remove duplication which eat up time & money.

Our age of polarisation: too lazy to look up the law, too lazy to look at the facts, too lazy to read the judgment. But strong opinion that decision is political based on what we assume some will say (too lazy to identify the ‚some‘).

It's a sign of the times that callousness is now dressed up as intellectualism. That empathy is framed as being as morally problematic as prejudice. That bigotry and hatred is just honesty. That solidarity is treason.
