The campaign against trans rights is also about stripping away everyone’s protections against discrimination, reviving, as Douglass put it “the moral blindness” of those who “persuade themselves that they are safe, though the rights of others may be struck down.”

What scares me about Trump's bellicose imperialism isn't that it'll happen, it almost certainly won't please God, but that it will push countries like Denmark or Canada, previously under our missile shield to acquire nukes, which is a rational move in this scenario, but one which endangers everyone

The unforgivable weakness the DOJ showed in the face of an unpopular former president who tried a coup will be studied in future history as an example of an utter failure of leadership.
Thinking of this today for no reason

In about a month Trump will take credit for the current economy, current crime rates and current border situation and claim he saved America, his rube supporters will believe him, he will then crash the economy and blame poor people and immigrants.
For all of his dystopian rhetoric, by many traditional metrics, the America that Trump will inherit from Biden is actually in better shape than that bequeathed to any newly elected president since Bush came into office in 2001. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/05/u...

President Biden is bequeathing his successor a nation that by many measures is in good shape, even if voters remain unconvinced.

Now Sinema should be blacklisted, no appearances by party members on media which hosts her, no meetings taken with anyone who employes her, no staff positions for anyone who worked for her. Same with Manchin. No mercy, scorched earth.

Nothing has been as damaging to the practice of law and the law as an institution than the collective agreement to pretend that any of the unfit hacks the right has put on the supreme court is a great legal scholar They're bribe taking political lackies who butcher the law to promote failed ideology

“There's a rich (and ongoing) debate over the relationship between public criticism of the courts and judicial independence. Chief Justice Roberts's annual missive missed just about all of the nuance.” It was pathetically bad in every respect.

We could, very easily, maintain defense production at current or greater levels and do universal healthcare, it's a political choice in the US not to because the right values profits over human life.
"US ranks last among industrial nations for deaths that could be prevented with timely access to healthcare"

Guns and Bases OR Healthcare ?

How long will the Yanks cop it ?

$368 Billion for bloody 'AUKUS' ? Are we MAD ?

#ausPOL
70% of the world’s population has universal healthcare, but not the US

We are the only highly developed nation without it

Our healthcare is twice as expensive as the average wealthy nation

Unironically being MAGA should be disqualifying for military service or LEO jobs.
We need to put a stop to all military recruitment and MAGA supporters until we can figure out what's going on. The risk is too high

It’s simple really. All Republicans are sincere Midwesterners in rural diners, suffering from economic anxiety. All Democrats are rich they/them college students getting gender studies degrees in (((New York))).

If you’re not in those categories, your politics are deep and unknowable.
Elon Musk is supporting far-right white nationalist governments all over the world. But it’s not clear what his political beliefs are.

Look, the FBI, ATF and prolly local LEOs know that neo-nazis are hoarding illegal weapons, they usually know where too, they don't act because political leadership is too afraid of offending fox news.
For some reason, this isn't news.

The suspect was using President Biden as target practice and had already lost 3 fingers after testing homemade explosive material.

Real thing that happened to me which shows how difficult it is to talk to right wingers
Them: Dr Fauci was arrested for lying to the FBI
Me: That's not true
Them: He was indicted in the Netherlands
Me: Also not true
Them: I can't talk to you because you just say everything I think isn't true.

Our dear Dr. Colin Wright, evolutionary shmiologist, really missed his chance here for calling Bluesday the most murderously terrorist echo chamber, didn't he.

And yes, you see that right, he provided no link, no source, no reference. 🤦

Any Democratic candidate for any office should be running on ending Musk's federal contracts, taxing his wealth and ending his political influence. He's an explicit neo-nazi and threat to international security.

Not cancelling all government contracts with a security risk and renationalizing our space program is an unforgiveable act of weakness by Biden, removing Musk's federal contracts should be a basic election issue for every Democratic primary.

so our drone boogeyman would have to build a mothership at a shipyard, all of which are monitored, then sail it into the Atlantic, the most monitored ocean, near one of the busiest ports in the world, without being noticed, then somehow conduct air operations without being seen, lol, no.
