Perry Bamonte went insanely hard on this song, and the entire Wish album. RIP to a goth icon.

Happy Boxing Day! I wrote about why Deerhunter were the greatest indie rock band of their generation (despite Bradford Cox hating “indie rock”), why I barely covered them in my book about indie’s mainstream glow-up, and how badly I want them to come back:
Deerhunter Hated "Indie Rock" And Were The Greatest Indie Rock Band Of Their Generation
The latest B-side from my book SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS examines Bradford Cox and friends' formidable legacy against a backdrop of indie rock gentrification

It's so cool that the President had a psychotic breakdown on live TV. Even cooler that we got three more years of this.

Shameful.

But, there's always room for more names on the Primary Them Now list.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

It is very important that Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig make more Knives Out movies for as long as they are alive.

By all means, Johnson should also do other types of films, go explore and all that. But we need one or two Knives Out films a decade.

In other Adventures in Print and This Cult '90s Band Is Now Crazy Huge, Vice has a special Ooops All Deftones issue. It features a great band profile from @iancohen.bsky.social, a range of interesting arcana, and, rather unexpectedly, some Deftones-themed erotica.

While I knew that they had caught on with Generation Z, I wasn't aware that Pavement were now big enough to have a single magazine dedicated to them, a la Kiss, Taylor Swift, or Ariana Grande.

And yes, the magazine has a whole subsection about Zoomer favorite David Berman.

For @theatlantic.com, I wrote about how Saturday Night Live satirized the Male Loneliness Crisis, and paid tribute to Andrew Dismukes, a Beta King.

Aurora was a lovely person with an infectious enthusiasm for music, and we loved working with her. She will be dearly missed.
i found out that one of antics' contributors, aurora crooks, passed away this past weekend. she was extremely sweet and a joy to not only work with but spend time with. hold your loved ones close and tell your friends you love them. it's so devastating when kind, young people die unexpectedly
