A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

If you are an elected Democrat, and your record on ICE is weaker than the Republican governor of Vermont's, then you'd better shape the hell up
Quite a statement by the Republican governor of Vermont

Seriously, @people.com has been meeting the moment better than 90% of publications with direct reporting and crystal clear headlines.

This is a good way for the low-information voters who are usually detached from the news cycle to get turned around.

Protesting is a protected right and is not punishable by execution in Minnesota or the rest of the United States. Hope that helps, @npr.org!
NPR just said a protest led to Renee Good’s death.

Well I’m not a senator, so my powers of calling it into question are pretty much limited to writing and protest. But you could make an issue of it on the US Senate floor every legislative day.
This is not a rational person. And this is deeply disturbing coming from an American President. NATO is not our enemy—they are unequivocally our closest friends and allies.

At this point, how can you not call into question the mental fitness of this President?

Every time Trump breaks the clear letter of the law, the NYT and WaPo write a story about how he’s “pushing boundaries” or “testing the limits of his authority”

He's not Chuck Yeager, guys. He's a crook.

“There is no Canadian EV industry to destroy,” said Ian Lee, a business professor at Carleton University. “We don’t make inexpensive EVs in Canada. In fact, we don't even make expensive EVs in Canada. Most of the EVs available in Canada are coming in from the States.”

Pitter-patter, let’s get at ‘er, Europe
Europe may begin selling U.S. assets in response to a new conflict with the US—a move that could trigger a dollar collapse, Bloomberg reports. Deutsche Bank analysts warn Washington’s key vulnerability is living off global financing—and Europe may decide it no longer wants to bankroll the U.S.

We’re the bad guys now.

The language in this article is maddening.

“Canada, whose relationship with the US has been deeply strained” - Maybe a line about why??

“Protecting Canada’s northern border is a key part of Trump and his top aides’ vision” - Really? That’s all this is about?

Dangerous sane-washing…
Trump's latest Western Hemisphere fixation: Canada
The president has intensified his criticism of Canada in private conversations with aides in recent weeks over what he sees as the country's vulnerability to U.S. adversaries in the Arctic.

Lots of the rest of the world has been asking versions of this question about America for years.

You’re either the “greatest nation on earth” or you have regular school shootings, folks packing heat in the grocery store as it’s such a dangerous place, child lunch debt, medical bankruptcy, etc
We have unlimited money for paramilitary forces that kidnap people off the streets but also have something called "school lunch debt" what are we doing here
January 18, 2026 at 5:22 PM
I hope this is true
Something important about how regular folks have responded to the occupation in Minnesota is that it has created a permission structure for other people across the country to feel like they can fight this regime. Over the past couple of weeks I've seen a lot of people finally step off the sidelines.
