I've long been of the opinion that the best type of game to adapt into a movie or show is the kind that is heavy on character and/or setting but is light on actual narrative (see LoL-to-Arcane as probably the prime example), so you have a canvas to paint on vs just copying.
yeah the part about using movied to inspire videogames is the interactive element adds more layers to the text. doing the reverse removes layers.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

I like how full text search of every book and human thought ever was a SOLVED PROBLEM in 2001, and now dicks at search engines and my own phone – a piece of silicon faster to respond than God was ever imagined in scripture – prevent it from working, _as a retroactive infantilizing design choice_.

I agree that TV Tropes made certain aspects of media discourse very annoying, but the most annoying part by far is the people who work themselves into whiny rage pretzels about it.
