Multiple stray 2025 (and beyond) TV opinions. All views my own. Sorry or you're welcome.
2025 in TV - Does feel like there was a noticeable tide turn on batch released/binge shows this year. Like many of the more talked about shows were weeklies while a lot of binge shows flunked without a trace. - (from my intel, a lot of next year's launches are not batch releases and it makes sense as the VODs want viewers/customers to keep coming back/not unsubscribe) - Aside: The entertaining thing about weekly is when you see The Guardian taking it on as a pet that they publish two recaps, two hot take comment pieces, an interview and a recipe for every week. Hence The White Lotus (Sky Atlantic) - Why do consecutive Waterloo Road (BBC One) episodes air at 9pm and 10:40pm? Who is it for?! Just gives the impression they don't want to show it - Can't predict what's next for reality. Loads of very different ideas were tried this year and most of them didn't take off. Destination X (BBC One) deserves credit for doing well. The only other new banger (pun intended): Virgin Island (C4) - Good for comedy that a sketch show (Mitchell & Webb Aren't Helping (C4)) was popular enough to return. I hope Channel 4 build something around that with new ha-ha comedies; Not pathos bafta-bait dramedies, PLEASE! - Industry commentary when MrBeast himself has a whole Amazon series that next to nobody in the UK gave a shite about: *silence* Industry commentary when Angry Ginge wins the Jungle: "ONLINE CREATORS ARE GUARANTEED TO CHARM TV VIEWERS TOO" - Death Valley (BBC One) - fun, frothy, good - Noel Edmonds' Kiwi Adventure (ITV) - was madcap but not nearly as madcap as we deserved. Reviews over-marked. - I love the central premise of The Chair Company (Sky Comedy) but it was really just okay, not the second coming. Don't wanna say it was overrated but just wouldn't say it was five star. - A recent -itis in TV: Shows that had a great first series being rewarded with a second series that then doesn't have as much ooomph as the first because the creators are already thinking too hard about what to save for the third, likely final, series. New patient: Am I Being Unreasonable? (BBC One) - When are we going to talk about ITV milking The 1% Club dry at this point? - More reality fans should let Made in Chelsea (E4) into their heart. It's firmly in its second pomp. You might be surprised. - Praying to god The Traitors (BBC One) doesn't get annoying. Two series a year pattern has killed so many great shows. - The TV scheduling of the Premier League is so weird now. - the incoming ITV soaps 'power hour' is such a peach of an opportunity… for the other channels at 8pm. (Tbf it finally fixes the biggest issue with Corrie). One to keep an eye on. - 2026 schedule changes (GMB extended; The Jeremy Vine Daytime Cinematic Universe on 5 extended) = great business for ITN but too much chuffing news on telly. It's nearly always on. It's like being in an overseas hotel! - Programmes to have on the radar for 2026 - FOR GOOD: The Floor (ITV1), Secret Genius (C4), Stepping Up (C4); FOR ILL: Saturday Night Live UK (Sky)

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

3) Getting time to myself to start this amazing Lego project!
