I've been walking my dog first thing in the morning.

I stroll around, listen to a podcast, and enjoy the stars and/or sunrise.

It's a delightful way to start the day.

(Don't worry, previously, she got walks at other times.)

cars are a large, depreciating asset and exploding car prices / monthly payments is just taking money out of people's pockets.

frankly this is a direct route to making people poorer.
This is outrageous! “The average price of a new car broke the $50,000 barrier”, according to Kelley Blue Book. Why won’t car companies make cheaper cars? Why won’t cities build reliable mass transit so that cars are not needed?

Want to read more in 2026? Here's how to revive your love of books
It's not too late to turn the page on old habits and start reading again in 2026. People often stop reading in adulthood because they're fatigued from school book assignments or just don't have the time.

It’s like investing in index funds versus stock picking. The question isn’t whether an individual company will make it but instead the category.

Will 900M ChatGPT users simply decide one day that it’s a fad like fidget spinners? Unlikely.

Could some company build a better chatbot? Probably.

If you get affected by the people around you, and therefore you should surround yourself with the types of people you want to be like…

…then that means you are affecting the people around you, and you could probably be more thoughtful about what impact you want that to be.

This morning I sat down to a church pancake breakfast with two neighbors who both work for Catholic aid charities and they talked about the work they’re doing now and it was a powerful reminder that there are so many more good Americans than awful ones, we have only to find one another

Public media (NPR, APM, PBS and others) is free to the public… no paywalls. The journalism isn’t free to produce, but we get support from our audience and foundations and others to provide the service.

I expect AI to be regulated, the same as other massive innovations.

The law attends, just slowly.

When ecommerce first started, no one knew how to handle sales taxes; there was debate in the USA and elsewhere.

Insightful.

We won't have to motivate AI "employees", but we will have to direct them.
In a world of AI, we’re all becoming middle managers

When I see a friend beat themselves up over something, I often ask them "what would you say to a friend who was in the same situation as you are?"

People are often way harder on themselves than they'd ever counsel a friend to be.
Q: Who is the person who most often tells you:

You don’t deserve…
Who gave you the right…
What makes you think…
You can’t…

A: Yourself.

If you saw someone doing that to someone else, you’d intervene.

So, intervene.
