Honestly, in light of today's events, it seems like people figured this out.
People keep talking about moderation on here like it's Twitter. It's not.

Bluesky at a fundamental level is designed to be primarily curated and moderated by its users.

Tech and tech companies are not one and the same. Pretty reductive take
the only reason that tech was ever remotely left-coded was that in the early 2010s they consciously aligned themselves with what appeared to be the dominant political party. that meant large donations to Dems and nominal gestures toward diversity. as soon as the winds shifted they swung right.

Every day on the Internet we're exposed to so much anger and ignorance and wealth and sex and despair and.. so on. Enough to make your head explode.

Don't be afraid to take a break.

Rian Johnson tried to address this problem and the fans crucified him for it
Denis Villeneuve says he has no interest in directing in Star Wars because he believes the franchise derailed with RETURN OF THE JEDI

“Star Wars became crystallized in its own mythology, very dogmatic, it seemed like a recipe, no more surprises”

My take on bsky's verification system is that any form of verification is a Pandora's box, and domains are generally good enough. (thread/rant)

Many think Rust is primarily about memory safety, but the real reason to use Rust is developer productivity (for C++-like system programming) from having a sane package manager and type system.

Bluesky is proof that cryptocurrency isn't a core tenant of decentralization. The team demonstrated extreme levels of pragmatism by leveraging new and existing technologies to produce something people actually use.

If you have a *.bsky.social username, your username itself is a URL which links to your profile
Some features that would be great:
1. Verification system
2. Scheduled posts
3. Edit posts
4. Shorter/simpler profile URLs that are more shareable on social media

I have a feeling that a lot of "this is how Bluesky actually works" YouTube videos will be published pretty soon

Fwiw, *every* username on Bluesky is a website.

*.bsky.social is just the default one they assign to you if you don't bring your own.

💡 Tip: You can set your website as your username on Bluesky!

This is one form of self-verification, and we especially encourage official organizations and brands to do this! Examples include @npr.org @react.dev @duolingobrasil.com.br.

Here's our guide for how to do this:

A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.
