This is serious, rigorous analysis and it should change the way the media has been covering these protests. These were, in the aggregate, *massive.*
Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

For anyone who thinks I'm joking here (and it's funny, but no) rumor is that the National Guard deployed in LA was sent under a 29 day order to avoid housing allowances, which means they have to fully pay for their own shelter. In LA. Zero notice. Durable fascisms don't shortchange the muscle.
Sad as it is to say, the greatest consoling thought I have as we march towards a fascism is how unlikely it is to last not because people are brave, or moral, or prepared to combat it... but because it's expensive to maintain, and the man driving us to it couldn't even keep a fucking casino afloat.

Got on here last year and didn’t see of my favorite folks to follow who help keep me sane who have the best wit and commentary on the current events. Thought I’ll check back today and very happy to see so many. While Threads is a happy place, the timeline is so much better here.
