What a relief to see 2025 in the rear-view mirror. Count me among those optimistic that 2026, America’s 250th anniversary year, will be the opportunity to prove that most Americans won’t let a depraved and malignant despot destroy our beloved country and end our democratic project.

I drove home from work yesterday and when I was stopped at the light on 4th and James (downtown Seattle), there was what looked to be a Hanukkah parade of sorts - at least a dozen cars, one after another, with electric menorahs on their roofs, driving up 4th Ave. Didn't know that was a thing.
