An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files

I love public transit--this is a "good project", but it would also cost taxpayers $0 to legalize housing on the west side.

Embarrassing, no vision, sad.
L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law legalizing the construction of housing near stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

I live in Capitol Hill Seattle, if there’s even a hint of traffic my e-bike outperforms driving almost anywhere in the city. Pretty much only reason I drive anywhere is my wife is going too (need a second e-bike) I’m carrying something large (need a cargo bike) or the lack of a bike rack
Where I'm located e-bikes *insanely* outperform buses, and often beat driving (due to congestion, parking). E-bike easily beats bus by 2x on any given point-to-point trip. The reasons to forego e-bike are: lack of safe infrastructure, rider ability, bike maintenance, theft risk, more than 1 person.

One of the many ways one can be anti fascist is to be pro public transit, to fight for communities where people can walk and bike safely, and to oppose the onslaught of cars in our cities.

cars bring isolation and harm, streets for the people build community and let us resist.
It is so funny that the Save Our Street people in Saint Paul are having all of their meetings at the church led by a pastor whose day job is running the local ICE field office.

This one simple trick would improve bus reliabilty across the entire US for $0 today: maxmautner.com/2026/01/17/b...
The War on Drugs is Why Your Bus Never Showed Up
Your bus didn’t show up because someone who could have driven it wasn’t allowed to take the job. Not because they couldn’t do it safely. Because they smoked weed two weeks ago.

Metro staff say they are pushing for several changes to SB79 - including entirely exempting L.A. County from SB79 because it's not needed because L.A. is already doing the transit thing so well! [That's *not* a quote, but that's more-or-less the gist of what Metro legislative staff said]
