NEW -- Corruption experts warned that Trump's crypto coin scheme would lead to people buying them specifically to get favors. And now it's happening.

How do we know?

BECAUSE A PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY STRAIGHT-UP TOLD THE SEC THAT'S WHAT IT IS DOING!

Take care of yourselves when you can, folks. I’ve been fighting pain in my heel for a couple of weeks and have been missing out on playing basketball. I saw a PT on Saturday and was able to play today. Each time I’m out and get back to it, I’m reminded how VITAL that hour is for my mental health. :)

Musk: I mean, have you Tim Walz, who is a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price.. What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?

Misinfo: bad information.
Disinfo: bad information circulated in order to bring about specific goals (the "d" is for "deliberate," I like to say)
Counter misinfo: fact-checking
Counter disinfo: debunking; is highly public, often confrontational, can appear very partisan, and makes you sound nuts
Gestures vaguely at @brooklynmarie.bsky.social to beg for another breakdown of misinformation vs disinformation and the 'counter' versions of each. I want to make an info graphic of this. Feels like a 4 circle venn though 😮‍💨
This is why they're attacking science and education: if you can only win with disinformation, data become a threat.

Just to say the quiet part out loud, the point of having unelected judges in a democracy is so that *whether* acts of state are “legitimate” can be decided by someone other than the people who are undertaking them.

Vermeule knows this, of course. So does Vance.

Good trade.

I will never cease to be amazed by books. Seriously. Just think about it; thousands of people read the same book, but in everyone’s brain’s the characters look different, the setting changes etc. We are all reading the same thing, but it's so unique to each of us.
That is a beautiful thing.
