I know it is just the law and all that , but it still jars to see ‘Graham Linehan cleared of harassment’ when I think of just how much he has harassed (and spread lies about) friends of mine and never been shy of bothering me either .

this is one of the reasons not to do policy by poll or focus group
New net migration figures at 930am.

Net migration fell half a million to 344,000 in 2024 from 848k in 2023

56% of people think it went up last year
17% think stayed the same
14% think it went down

2025 figure to be lower again
16% expect that
38% think it will be up
31% about the same

Just an idea, but maybe those of us who are pleased that a Labour government has lifted to the 2-child limit could email their nearest Labour MP to tell them so? People are very quick to criticise (I include myself in this) when we think they've done something wrong, so positive feedback seems fair.

Media full of griping public full of how an increase of tax over £2million House is so unfair.
So no tax on big houses, no tax on private Ed,no end to WFA, no end to triple lock, no taxing big business,no proportionate income tax rise.
But fix child poverty, NHS, education, water, rail, energy......

Herd impunity is right.

The faux handwringing now from certain politicians & pundits now - as though, somehow, anyone who wanted to prevent catastrophic loss of life through lockdown didn't care about the enormity of closing schools & businesses.

Every decision was freighted with difficulty...

But the obvious lesson to learn is this.

When weighing how to act - & even if your group of Downing Street decision-makers is predominantly middle class white men - consider EVERYONE. Including the vulnerable. The voiceless. The overlooked. The people who don't look or sound like you.

Children. Teens. Pregnant women. Victims of domestic violence. Anyone from an ethic minority. Care home residents. People with disabilities. The list of overlooked vulnerable groups goes on & on.

The lesson is to build processes that include them next time.

Not to airbrush away 250,000 Covid dead.
