Not normal for me to comment positively on a conservative Prime Minister, but David Cameron’s decision to appoint Larry The Cat as Chief Mouser was an excellent decision, and one of the very few things that he got right.

FACT OF THE DAY. 25 January 1890. The attempt by American journalist Nellie Bly (born Elizabeth Jane Cochran) to travel around the world in less than 80 days was successful. She aimed to emulate Jules Verne’s fictional character, Phileas Fogg, in Around The World in 80 Days. Bly took 72 days.

Try to imagine the news cycle, had President Biden opened up a book of pictures during a press availability, flipped through it, and rambled an incoherent stream of lies that have been repeatedly debunked.

Just imagine. Now look at any national news source.

...Yeah. 🤷‍♂️

This tool is really helpful for finding MPs on bluesky.

365 UK MPs (56%) now have accounts, but the proportion differs hugely across political parties -
Here is the full breakdown of MPs on Bluesky by party 👇

@richholman.com has created an interactive tool based on @politicshome.bsky.social's list, mapping which MPs are on Bluesky and when they last posted

You can use the tool here: mps.dowu.uk#list

So far today I have managed two Bluesky replies on the subject of Parisian baked pastries.

Will now have to seek out some croissants up here in Preston, which is very much like Paris.

Have just remembered that I am signed up for an online history course this evening.

Of course I have left my only headset at work, and can’t even remember if I have Zoom installed on my computer.

At the weekend I deleted my account on X (Twitter)

I had been deliberating about it for some time, during which time I used it less and less.

Before leaving I used a tool identify Bluesky profiles of people that I was following on X, I can share details of that if anyone needs it.

I listened to the audiobook of The Good The Bad and The Fury while driving over Christmas and enjoyed it very much.

The narrator’s interpretation of Ralph saying “Ralph” was better than I had imagined when I read the book.

Have now started listening to EWSY.

I have just deactivated my old Twitter/X account.

The right thing to do, but also sad because when back when it was good, I made many real life friends through Twitter.

They should make Jools Holland do The Hootenanny actually live.

Build a studio on the roof of the Houses of Parliament. Have the studio roof open to show the fireworks.
