The new HBO documentary "Critical Incident: Death at the Border" examines the alleged cover-up of the murder of Anastasio Hernández Rojas, an undocumented Mexican immigrant "beaten to death" by U.S. border agents in 2010.

Greenwald launched his career by defending, pro bono, self-described Nazis in court. Arguably, he's been acting as their unofficial media lawyer ever since.
Glenn Greenwald says Nick Fuentes' authenticity makes it easy for critics to "demonize and attack you by taking these quotes that can sound not just very racist, but very almost Nazi-like and kind of an extermination rhetoric." Um, yea. People who use Nazi-like rhetoric tend to get labeled a Nazi.

"If you filter the statistic to include as unemployed people who can’t find anything but part-time work or who make a poverty wage (roughly $25,000), the percentage is actually 23.7 percent. In other words, nearly one of every four workers is functionally unemployed in America today"

Congress has issued a lot of legal orders, which have not been enforced.

And the US President has issued many illegal orders, which have been enforced.

In effect, what passes for a parliamentary system in the US has been abolished. And the President rules as a capricious, mass-murdering monarch.

The horrific bombing of Venezuela may have something to do with oil, mining and expansionism.

But I think the better explanation is that Duginesque "multipolarity" has gone from being a fringe, far Right geopolitics to, now, being the default geopolitical diagram of the broader Right.

Babylon 5 watchers would surely hear "last best hope" — except that in B5, EarthGov are fascists who happen to to take over the news service. Eg, s3e05: "Voices of Authority."

Remarkable how systematically the Right invert the politics of scifi so they can appropriate it to antithetical ends.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

Franz Neumann's Behemoth: The Structure & Practice of National Socialism, 1933-1944.

Published in 1942.

[Disagreed with most of Neumann's theories. And, learned a lot — I'd become so bored with learning nothing new from more recent books on fascism.]

Daycare centers were also the primary target of the Satanic panic, because fundamentally American religious conservatism is opposed to women having jobs outside the home.
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

Peter Thiel’s Christmas party had an odd theme this year: “all things Britain.” (per NYT)

As Trump sunsets and backlash builds, expect a focus shift to the UK—where some see brighter possibilities for fascism, network states, and monarchies.

I feel like "academic hiring" discourse is always kind of downstream of the fact that in the 50s we started building a giant public system to make a college education almost universally available and in the 80s and 90s we started taking it apart to go back to the only-the-rich model
