I love doing my yearly recap where I look back over the year! Here’s to ushering out 2025 well and turning my face to 2026.

This is the thing I’ve been pondering for a week: What if Larry Mullen Jr. had never put up that flyer on the school bulletin board in 1976?

Boxing Day is always the start of just the best week of the year. A week that is marked by good food, hobbies, games, movies, and waking up each day having zero idea what day of the week it is.

I loved the “Die Hard” years but I think we are a family who watches “The Muppets’ Christmas Carol” now.

Alt: A group of muppets are sitting around a table with a candle and a man standing in front of them. The text says “God bless us, everyone.”

Quote with your favorite pic of you from 2025.

@granades.com took this pic when we were on a cruise in the Galápagos Islands in April this year.

This morning in an act of creative rebellion, I am sorting through the space on my desk where I keep books and journals. I’m retiring an older working journal and making space for new things to take up the space in 2026. 🎉

Here’s a thread about my life and how U2 has been a part of it…anyway I’ve listened to U2 all day and I’m super nostalgic.
I was 15 when U2’s *Joshua Tree* came out and it was on every radio every hour. MTV spent a day playing the videos. I went to my Aunt’s house (she had cable) & spent the day taping them on a VHS.

When I started teaching crochet to teens a few years ago, they had NEVER heard of U2. Not one song.

OK, the problem, if there is one, is not coming up with enough good ideas. The problem is the way we count what makes for “productivity.” Even if you think AI can generate stuff that’ll commercialize. Which, so far, not much.

We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about
