Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Packed theater, a movie I didn’t vibe with and a trio of asshole teens being complete shitheads.
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

The Escapist, which always ping-ponged between "this site is fantastic" to "how are they still alive," seems to be dead as their ownership pushes it into regurgitating AI slop.

A damn shame. There was a time - albeit a long while back now - where that publication was genuinely second-to-none.

Dear game designers,

I don’t want to kill dogs.

Like, ever.

Thanks.

This book is fantastic and will make you rethink eating apples but in a good way! I am desperately hoping for the sequel Murder Village Tangelos.
I don't know why BLACK RIVER ORCHARD is on sale for two bucks at your favorite electronic bookmonger, but it is, so if you want a story of suburban folk horror (shut up it is too a thing) where a creepy cult of apple-eaters take over a town and begin, um, changing? Welp, go forth and get after it.

Watched Primate today and imagine, a studio horror film that goes hard from jump with no winky-face moments.

To build on this, the thing about paperbacks back in the day is that they were fucking everywhere. Drug stores, grocery stores, you name it. So if you were on vacation and read all of your books you didn’t have to go far for a new one. For voracious readers like me, this was a godsend.
This makes me sad for any number of reasons, not least of which is that fewer and fewer people will know the joy of prowling used book stores. I got *so* many of my books from used book stores when I was a kid. It was a highly affordable way for me to own entire series, or try something brand new.

PREACH
Like something from an author? For a few bucks, you can try five more things they wrote. Or you could ask the person behind the counter to recommend something similar.

It's not hyperbolic to say I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for mass market paperbacks.

I do love Mike Flanagan’s work but I have many questions as to why he’s doing a new version of The Mist. Frank Darabont’s one (especially in B&W) is phenomenal with an ending that is up there with some of the greatest and ballsiest. Not sure what more there is to offer.

They briefly showed two men unambiguously up on each other during that halftime show; legitimately progressive for both the superbowl and for “machismo pop culture.”
I know Ricky Martin was there because he's a Puerto Rican icon, but I really appreciated that Bad Bunny made a pointed choice to give a gay man a moment in the spotlight in his vision of America

Also, for real, it doesn’t have to be Spanish. French, Japanese,
ASL, whatever - learn a second language. It’ll enrich your life.

Also, continuing to learn as an adult is scientifically proven to help prevent dementia, juuuuuuust saying!
Mad ‘cause Bad Bunny isn’t singing in English?

Learn some Spanish, bitch. Expand your damn horizons.
