Blah, think I'm done with this shit.
I've long hated nostalgia content, hell, even the feeling itself.

Have I had some good times in my nearly 50 years on this planet? Sure. But they haven't been so good that I smoothed over all the bad shit that's occurred in my lifetime, pushing me to long for a return to "simpler times".
This is why i keep warning folks, especially from my generation, about getting nostalgia pilled. Dont get me wrong, i lovr nostalgia content, but at the same time, I'm not going to let ig cloud my perception of how shitty the past was.
It’s not a coincidence that American fascism arose in a media environment completely saturated with nostalgic content

If you ever want to shove something in the face of a conservative comic fan about how comics are woke nowadays or someone who thinks that climate change is some recent hoax, show them this. This is a panel from Doctor Strange (vol 2) #6 from February 1975. This comic is 4 years older than me.

Every celebrity, billionaire, head of state/politician is a piece of shit until they prove otherwise.
Well, there's a photo I never expected to see in my life. Noam Chomsky palling around with Steve Bannon.

I have 2:

Seeing The Human Centipede 2 at the Bridge Theater in SF. Not only because of the crowd howling at the ridiculousness of it all, but seeing Mike Patton & Dan The Automator in attendance was fucking awesome.

The other was seeing Black Panther on opening night in Daly City. THE.BEST.CROWD
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I really fucking hate this idea that the government giving people a lump sum to purchase health care is a great idea.

Sure, some of us who don't have many or any health issues might be able to skate by on that for a bit. But if something catastrophic happens, or if you're someone who has
Q: What is the Republican healthcare plan?

TRUMP: If the Democrats go along with it -- which they don't want to -- I want the money to be paid to the people to go out and buy their own healthcare.

I've decided that I'm gonna share some of my struggles with functioning whenever they come up.

Without going too much into detail, I've noticed that whenever I'm tasked with doing something that I feel that I'm not super adept at, I procrastinate as much as possible to avoid doing it.

Been meaning to share this

I don't fuck with Spotify, so whenever I wanted to share this track with anyone, it was a pain in the ass. L'Arc shared this on YouTube (3 years ago!). This track & the album it's on (True) got me through some tough times

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

Then you could pair that with The Lure for a great double feature.
Also we should remake SPLASH as a horror movie.

Earlier in the year, I decided to start reading again. I read for fun a lot as a kid, then would have on and off again stints of doing so as an adult. But I had fallen off hard until this year and noticed that my attention was more severely divided when I tried. So I tried to ease my way back in

Glad to see a UFC fighter say this.

I'm not much of an MMA fan anymore, but glad to see a fighter who isn't pro-Trump.

I don't think I'm super "in the know" about everything and don't want to just assume that no one is talking about this, but it feels that no one talks about what would need to happen after Trump's current stint in office.

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.
