What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules.
It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to.
This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented.
So ICE took her into custody.

Ég er ekki smeykur við að kalla „fangelsið“ í El Salvador útrýmingabúðir, af því:
a) Þetta er ekki fangelsi, fólk er sent þangað án dóms og laga
b) Fólk er sent þangað í þeim tilgangi að fjarlæga það úr samfélaginu, með litla von að snúa heim
c) Fólk deyr þar úr pyntingum og vegna illra aðstæðna

Það er ekki hægt að taka stéttarvinkil í sundur frá öðrum breytum eins og kyni, þjóðerni, húðlit, kyni, kynhneigð o.s.frv. Það er enginn tilviljun að konur af erlendum uppruna eru t.d. oftast þær tekjulægstu og réttindalausustu í íslensku samfélagi. Það hlýtur að segja sig sjálft.

one thing im totally baffled by is how many people around me are totally blasé / not attuned / not frightened by the political situation? maybe if you're not directly affected it's easier to ignore & just think things are normal? the disconnect is so insane
