The audience applauded as Luxon asserted that the 400,000 people wanting work or more work would actually fit perfectly into the 20,000 available vacancies.
He then urged young people to have some get up and go. Parents looked worried by this comment - how would they afford to get their kids to Aus?

New Zealand lost its AA+ rating under Key, and regained it under Ardern. If political journalists were willing to include that sort of context it would be much harder for Nicky No-boats to lecture the left on fiscal responsibility. #nzpol

"Labour fiscal policies are unsustainable" they cried as they set fire to Labour fiscal policies, major investment, jobs, and economic growth, sobbing that Jacinda made them do it because she's a witch

Misogyny is a hell of a drug
Christopher Luxon was elected in large part on a promise to fix the economy, yet 18 months later business leaders increasingly suspect the National-led coalition has no grand plan.
Business leaders sour on Luxon government, but fear lack of clear successor
A winter of economic discontent has brought flashing warning signs and mounting pressure on the PM, with boardroom concerns now spilling into public view.

Whole damn thread nails it. We should be talking very clearly about what a debacle this is, and how it will almost certainly cost us more than the $671m in money.

David Seymour says that NZ's politicians shouldn't wear clothing or accessories that suggest they favour one side in a 'conflict' over another.

A) it's not a 'conflict', it's genocide

So, this government's entire policy is simply "Labour spent too much/invested too much/created too many jobs, so we're going to undo all that" and, yet, they still say it's Labour's fault that this has created a financial fuck-up that will last for years and years?

Fails to mention Nact firing thousands or stopping hundreds of inflight and planned construction projects. Fails to mention corporate price gouging. Not only these vast oversights but also implies things are turning around. They’re not, it’s still getting worse.

Please do better RNZ.

These Ministers aren’t fixing the housing crisis they’re cashing it in.

Selling off state land while our people sleep in cars isn’t policy. It’s a political hit job on vulnerable whānau.

You don’t build homes by gutting the agency that builds them.

Kāinga Ora halts hundreds of housing developments, sells vacant land
The projects would have included 3500 homes, as the state housing provider also sells a fifth of its vacant land.
