Bird in your room represents all your gloom
Nevermoré
When you're trying to grieve but that corvid won't leave
Nevermoré
It will rap
Tippy tippy tap
Tippy tippy tap
Waking you from naps aaand
Your dream-a
Then will fly
Never tell you why
Even if you cry
Landing on your sideboard Athena

My sympathy and solidarity with colleagues at UoW. There is a shocking leadership crisis in Australian Higher Ed and academic and professional staff are bearing the brunt.

Be alert in 2025 for lots more discussions about the problems in universities.

🚨Note the angle!

Beware if pieces fail to document or appreciate historic and ongoing systemic harms and cuts.

Or if accountability's deflected and solutions avoided by blaming staff and students and ignoring all else

Audiobooks 👏 are 👏 reading 👏

(That's it, that's the take)
Audio books are reading! All scholars of reading agree on this and we don’t agree on anything! @millicentweber.bsky.social is the authority here

Amazon offering a free audiobook with a music sub may look like what Spotify is doing but it's actually the reverse. (See: www.thebookseller.com/news/amazon-...)

OK, way too tempting! So, Charlotte Wood went all the way to a Booker s/listing off a Miles Franklin l/listing. And also there with her on the latter? The sublime The Sitter by Angela O'Keeffe. Just needs a UK pub & bingo! (will take a bet up to 50 quid on this!) www.uqp.com.au/books/the-si...

Thrilled that my first post (terminology?) here is that we're hiring two people in English at ANU: jobs.anu.edu.au/jobs/lecture...

Both are completely open in terms of specialisation; one is the backfill for my DECRA. I'm not involved in the recruitment but please ask for info about ANU/Canberra!
