I would call it the first bastion cause you can see all the way back to like 1800s they were writing stories about gay monsters that had cult appeal despite being poisonous to pop culture

This has been a long frustration of mine with the 'queer positivity' demand. I understand when my siblings need media that presents posivity. I resent and dislike the demand that queer people do not make art about difficult and upsetting things.
Straight people are allowed to be dark and upsetting and approach serious topics within SFF. Queer people have to be cute. Warm. Approachable.

The day before chemo I get whatever I want, pretty much. Do I ever ask for special treatment? No. But I will sprawl in the middle of momma’s bed for double naps and an extra Churu. Perhaps I need a little silver bell to ring for service.

Tonight this man convinced me that he had not had dinner. He gave me giant googly starving eyes as he drooled into his bowl.
Now he is sleeping off his double dinner with his stomach so large he can’t even lie on it.
