Hello! I'm Sarah (Gryph) and I work in an animal shelter. My partner and I own four cats, used to have a dog, and we TNR in our neighborhood. This account is mostly cat pics, as self care and because that is the candle I hold in the darkness. ❤️ Also occasional gaming and book talk. 🙂
I (blond, white woman in my early 40's; wearing glasses with blue/purple frames) am holding a semi feral kitten (Chessie) in one arm as I take a selfie of us. The kitten is black and white tuxedo, ear tipped, and about three months old. She is very alert, but has loose, comfy body language with one front leg just hanging. She's partially snuggled into the light grey sweatshirt I'm wearing. Behind me is an empty shelter cat kennel.

Ear tipped brown tabby with bright green eyes and striking dark stripes in his face and legs. He is sitting up straight in his shelter kennel and giving me a little head tilt of curiosity. He has many toys and a puzzle feeder in his kennel.

The Righteous Gemstones was filming in my area, and Tony Cavalero did some volunteering at my shelter. I hadn't watched the show yet, so I just vaguely knew he was Someone. I ended up just interacting with him like I would any other volunteer, just polite and lots of thanks. He was super nice fwiw!

Going to be a little quiet on here for a bit - we're currently down by a couple people at work, which make a big difference for our team. I'll be moving some of my own hours around to help cover. With any luck it won't be for too long though!

Finished #77 of The Magnus Archives and feeling validated by confirmation that a specific thing I noticed last season was indeed An Intentional Thing and I wasn't just overreacting. I knew the general situation was a thing by now, but wasn't 100% sure about that specific part of the setup.

Calvin from this weekend. Don't let him trick you - when I took this pic he was hitting me any time I tried to pet him and smacking the other cats if I tried to pet them instead. He wanted me to just crouch on my porch and admire him.
Very pleased looking ear-tipped brown tabby lying on his side in the sun, on the floor of my porch. His eyes are half closed and he LOOKS like he's being super friendly. Because sometimes he is a liar.

Other than loving creepy stories and spiraling lore, the Magnus Archives have gifted me with another favorite thing: the kind of character that you know (or ought to know) would probably be rather irritating IRL, but can be super interesting and compelling safely wrapped in fiction. :P

Claudius, very pleased with his spot today.
Ear tipped grey/brown tabby with white paws, chest, and chin. He has bright green/blue eyes. He is curled up casually on a round green and white cat bed on top of a small table on my porch. The table is covered with an old light green towel.

Finally getting around to the Magnus Archives and not only am I loving it, I'm a bit confused why people told me it might take a while to pick up. Bc I am loving this and I'm only on the fourth episode. (I mean I get it, obv that means also it picks up more later, but it's been excellent so far.)

I want to say, from the bottom of my chest, that I believe it matters when we can show an animal love in their last minutes. And it's possibly one of the most loving and also hardest things you can do - love an animal just to have to say goodbye. ❤️

Today I was walking back from an errand when I woman flagged me down and pointed at a cat laying at her feet. A black tuxie, very skinny and very much worse for wear. “I would take him but he won’t let me pick him up,” she said. “Really?” I said, and cradled my sweatshirt around him. /1

All four remaining fruit babies are doing brilliantly. Eating well, pooping properly, and not being too sick.

We did discover SO MANY ticks today though - apparently the ticks needed them to make some blood so they could eat it.
A small tabby kitten who is hissing at me a bit, but it looks like he is smiling and happy, which is hilarious. He has excellent long whiskers and blue green eyes.

Ear tipped brown tabby is half dozing in the sun. He's curled up on a red and white round cat bed that's sitting on a cream cat tower on my enclosed porch. One front paw is resting on a slightly different level of the tower. His eyes are mostly closed, and he looks very comfortable.

We named the kittens. I wasn't going to name anyone - leaving that for their permanent foster carer, but after we lost Peach yesterday, it seemed unfair to not give them names.

Brought to you by last week we got in a litter of 6 5-6wk old kittens and I've just been informed we took in a tiny neonate like 5 minutes ago.

It is January and i swear to god we've only had like a month since last season ended.
