The Iron Age ‘Battersea Shield’ which was found in the River Thames at Battersea in 1857. Dating to around 350-50 BC, the shield is now part of the collections at the British Museum. 📸 My own. #FindsFriday #BatterseaShield #IronAge

Ah another part of my Liverpool youth has checked out. 😢 RIP Brian Patten. Still remember music and poetry evenings upstairs at the Phil, and across the road in the Hall watching the anarchic Grimms. Great times. Still have my classic 1967 copy too.

Timeless humour!

A 2,000 year-old Roman souvenir pen with a joke inscription roughly equivalent to:

“I went to Rome and all I got you was this cheap pen!" 😂

Dated circa 70 AD, this iron stylus pen was recovered in London during excavations by MOLA.
