My most recent book centers on the fact that two ancestors--one born in Ireland--were declared "colored" by the state of VA. Had they stayed in Virginia, my father couldn't have married my mother. Record keeping reinforced and sometimes simply invented permanent racial identities.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

Watching the many videos it's clear they are not going after "criminal aliens:" they are going after brown people, and people who film them or "impede" them. Masked, kicking down doors, conducting warrantless searches to manufacture crimes; demanding "papers" like the gestapo.
