Today is Rural Health Day in Washington.

More than 1 million Washingtonians live in our rural counties. Rural Washington is also home to some of the best agriculture and most beautiful landscapes in the world. It’s a great place to live and work.

Start squirreling away food so when it comes time for a #GeneralStrike you can hold out for weeks without spending any money if you have to. Mass economic disruption is perhaps the best last tool we have to put pressure on this regime.

Happy birthday to Ruby Bridges, who turns 71 today.
The decision to integrate Ruby Bridges’ school was a result of the landmark Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education, which ruled segregation unconstitutional.
4 years later, in 1964, Rockwell painted her story "The Problem We All Live With".

Among all the other things, "The President has screwed things up so badly that the world's other rich countries won't deliver mail to us anymore" really should end it immediately.
Japan Post just announced they will no longer deliver mail to the United States, joining Germany, Austria, Denmark, Italy, France, and Sweden.

Don’t forget to breathe.

Breathe in for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. It signals safety to your nervous system and helps bring you back to centre.

No matter the situation, we need to be regulated to think, to act, to not freeze.

Donald Trump does NOT want you to share this footage of his pathetically tiny birthday parade crowd.
June 14, 2025 at 10:28 PM
What an absolute joke. What humiliation for the service members ordered to be there.
It's .........very cosplay so far here at Trump's birthday parade. Those wigs must be so damn hot

Let's do this!

My kids know an American flag when they see one – but they don't yet know all that it represents.

When they're old enough, here is what I'm going to tell them:

Fuck tariffs. I'm fully expecting sanctions by former trading partners now.

So, I think this is the part in Handmaids Tale where women start losing access to their bank accounts.

Another civilian vehicle being used to kidnap people off the street. Those plates sure look civilian, too.
San Francisco swooped in on an
ICE van used to detain a person who showed up for Immigration Court ✊

Insane. This suburban isn't even a repurposed police vehicle. Not only does it appear to have civilian plates, but it's a 2005 or 2006 model. Hubcaps, roof racks, the side trim.... this is some redneck's country hoopty.
This is from an ICE raid at Glenn Valley Foods in Omaha

A small group of protesters are attempting to prevent a vehicle from leaving the premises with detainees aboard

The SUV drives toward them and two jump onto the hood of the vehicle, which then stops abruptly before accelerating again

Let's take the Wayback Machine to Nov. 8, 2016, very close to midnight. The panic attack/meltdown I had, it turns out, was totally prescient. Just several years premature.

We've been, correctly, beating them up for not doing anything. Today they did something and they deserve credit. Nice job, Dems. More, please.
1. Today, Senate Democrats showed spine, and killed a national transgender sports ban bill via filibuster.

Not a SINGLE Democrat voted for cloture.

S. Baum writes about what happened today, including some of the speeches.

Senate Dems Show Spine, And National Sports Ban Bill Dies
The failed legislation reflects a wider effort to disallow trans women (or anyone suspected of being a trans woman) from women’s sports and spaces.

I see some suggestions, in the reporting regarding the OMB impoundment order, that a mere delay in spending appropriated funds is legal. But that's not really true. The delay OMB has ordered specifically contradicts the Impoundment Control Act. A thread.

Community is one thing we have that they don't. They only have allyships of convenience. There's no love. No respect. No solidarity.

It all crumbles when everyone is ultimately out for themselves. They turn on each other because their whole ideology hinges on rising to a top only one can occupy.

By FAR the best money move I ever made was to cash in a pathetic post-2008 401k to buy a 700 sq. ft. house in what would become a real estate market that wouldn’t quit.

2 adults, a preteen, a kindergartener and a 90 lb Golden Retriever in a ramshackle logging cabin with no foundation? No regrets.
