Urban farms in general: sure, in certain circumstances it’s a great thing.

Urban farms next to transit stops: disgraceful, apartments should be there yesterday.

1868-1870 S. Kedzie, Chicago. Built in 1885 and so unusual. The alt text will be inadequate because I don't have the words to describe some of this.

In our neck of Chicago, there exists an old Taco Bell that was bought by bankruptcy attorney Peter Francis Geraci. I was worried when he started building an addition, but I’m happy to say that he is preserving the integrity of the Mission Revival style of the old Taco Bell! #chicago

Stopped in here back in July when apartment hunting. Awesome space, sorry to hear the news.
South Side coffee shop watch: the writing has been on the wall for awhile now, and Sip & Savor has officially announced that their location in Rosenwald Courts (47th & Michigan) is closing to the public and will be used solely as an event venue from now on. It has long struggled with low traffic.

Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

“I’m real proud to be doing something you don’t see in America much anymore: spot welding. I work for one of the biggest union-run AC parts shops anywhere,” said Festge, and beat the side of the breakroom vending machine to dislodge a bag of Corn Nuts.

Mexican immigration was basically the only thing that kept Chicago's population from completely cratering after 1970. We as a city owe our Mexican-American neighbors a huge debt of gratitude.

Next time you think your city is all out of room for development, look around and notice the parking lots. 49 units (20% affordable) plus retail space will be built on a piece of land that now contains just 16 parking spots. And it's still going to retain half of the parking!

Here's a photo of my friend and colleague, Jorge Bautista, getting shot in the face with a flashbang grenade. The ICE Agent is so afraid of Jorge (who was posing no threat) that he has wet himself. Please share this photo. Everyone needs to know what cowards ICE agents are.
