Shoutout to everyone still biking in this cold weather, especially the mom I saw with 3 kids in her Bunch cargo bike in Lincoln Park yesterday!
Chicago’s newest densified Divvy bikeshare station is live in Fulton Market! Divvy had 5,000+ rides yesterday. Despite the cold, we are still booming and growing.

I would really love ESPN to stop airing a very scary trailer for an R-rated movie every single commercial break during the afternoon NFL game.

My mom is in town visiting. This morning, she packed my son’s lunch for school, and while she was at it, she also packed me a lunch, complete with a note. Moms rule.

There is a golden retriever in this Walgreens that smells wet and keeps jumping on its owner. We used to be a proper society.

Lafayette Square in St. Louis is one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in America.

A Washington Post article suggests that, beyond a certain threshold, larger homes don't make people happier. Instead, well-being is correlated with affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods where they feel socially connected.

Lexus had a Christmas ad this year showing a daughter growing up alongside various Lexuses in the driveway. I was struck by the difference between the car her parents brought her home in ~30 years ago vs. the car that she brought her own daughter home in in modern times.

I've been getting a lot of headaches at work lately, and I assume it's due to staring at a screen all day in an office without natural light. I do take breaks, but staring at a screen is necessary for my job, so I'm at a loss for what to do. Anyone overcome this problem before?

Today in the New York Times:

"One year after the start of congestion pricing, traffic jams are less severe, streets are safer, and commute times are improving for travelers from well beyond Manhattan."

Whoever invented the digital coupon system at the grocery store deserves to be fired into the sun. It should not be that difficult to save $2 on cereal.

Winter really makes it clear just how little our cities care about anyone not traveling in a car. People use bike paths and sidewalks year-round!
Green Line Extension Community Bike Path very icy this morning!

It is once again sneckdown season in Chicago! The curb is the yellow line, but the red line denotes wasted space between the curb and where cars actually drive.

This is really exciting news and a boon to every family who is cargo bike-curious. Secure bike storage is a major obstacle to cycling, especially with pricier cargo bikes, and CitiBike doesn't work for families with young kids.

1:20: doctor calls in prescription, says it should take 20 min to fill

3:00: call the pharmacy to check the status, placed on hold

3:20: still on hold, decide to just go to the pharmacy

3:30: get to the pharmacy, find out the prescription has not been filled and it’ll be 15-20 minutes

Sigh

My 3-year tenure on my neighborhood association's board recently came to an abrupt end, and I talked to
@blockclubchi.bsky.social about why. I hope this article will cause other neighborhood groups to reflect on whether they're truly serving their communities. blockclubchicago.org/2025/10/29/f...

Next time you think your city is all out of room for development, look around and notice the parking lots. 49 units (20% affordable) plus retail space will be built on a piece of land that now contains just 16 parking spots. And it's still going to retain half of the parking!

For exactly one block this evening in Lincoln Park, I had a little taste of Amsterdam. I rode down the street as my 5-year-old rode his own bike behind me, and behind him was a mom with 4 kids in her cargo bike. At the end of the block, we both turned onto the Dickens Greenway to continue home. 🥰

My official TLOAS review is that the album as a whole is kinda mid but “Wood” is a top 10 all-time TS banger. Sorry some of you hate fun.
