This was lovely. On behalf of the (slightly) younger generation, I’d also like to mention Jean Marsh’s role as the eponymous villain of CBBC’s The Ghost Hunter (2000-02). It’s a series just waiting for the nostalgia cycle to catch up so volumes can be written about its terrifying, Millennial appeal.
Please listen to Absent Friends on BBC Radio 4 Extra today. Part One is 4.45pm (repeated at 0045) and Part Two is the same time tomorrow. It’s my acknowledgment of various folk from UK sci-fi, horror and fantasy who died this year. 4 Extra doesn’t do many home made productions, so do tune in!

Any campaign to regulate AI generated sexually explicit material will need to patiently educate lawmakers that the datasets use images of real people, without their consent or knowledge.
For sexually explicit images, there is a legal duty to remove them. Many images which violate the spirit of the current law may only be on the borderline, though some of the images created will clearly breach it. Urgent intervention needed by government & regulators

I don't dislike dogs to be clear. But I really really dislike how many dog owners allow their dogs to foul the streets and to yap at people and scare kids and still expect everyone to think their precious little pooch is such a good dog 14/10 whatever

This one of the best podcasts and it’s coming to an end in 2026 and that’s sad. But there’s seven years of it for you to catch up on, and that’s very, very happy.
hey did you know I have a podcast about reading british Sonic comics in the 90s?

Well not any more, because it's the MILLENNIUM EPISODE. It usually comes out on Fridays but I've brought it out NOW. You will hear young me at a party as a thousand years tick away and another hove in.

Bruce Willis’s big stunt in Die Hard (jumping off the roof) and Alan Rickman’s (falling out of the window) were filmed on the actors’ first and last days of shooting respectively so that, if anything went wrong, they wouldn’t have to reshoot either part with a different actor.
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?
