Author of “America’s Game: The Epic Story of How Pro Football Captured a Nation,” “The Big Time: How the 1970s Transformed Sports in America,” and other books.
Some ancient history that directly influenced the present day. Enjoyed being part of this project.

The early Chiefs teams of the 1960s were incredibly impressive in their own right. Loaded with Hall of Famers like Len Dawson, Buck Buchanan and Bobby Bell, the team made the first ever Super Bowl and won one just three years later.
The 1960s Kansas City Chiefs were 'the team that history forgot.' A new book remembers
In his new book The Team That History Forgot, sportswriter Rick Gosselin highlights the story of one of the most exciting professional football teams of the 1960s: the Len Dawson-led Kansas City Chiefs.

Head Start, an early childhood education program for low income families, is on the chopping block. Growing up, my own mom was an aide with the program; it’s helped countless young mothers, including the one who tells her story here.

My favorite McIlroy story: he asked Sergio Garcia why he would defect to LIV. "To get paid what I deserve," Garcia said. McIroy reportedly replied something to the effect of, "Sergio. We play golf. We don't deserve to be paid at all."

Firmino-esque.
I will watch every angle of this no less than 20 times.
Tigres just posted a new angle of Jacquie Ovalle’s goal, and it’s as magical as you’d expect.

It’s December 1st and we should all pay homage to Rosa Parks today. On this day in 1955 she decided not to give her seat up on a bus in Alabama, and well the rest is history. We are all going to need to channel our Rosa Park’s for the next four years! Thank you Rosa for showing us how to #Resist

Thanks for the kind words, and close read. It was inevitable, I suppose, that some would assume the book was pure nostalgia. It’s gratifying when readers grasp the larger point, that the decade was crucial in shaping the landscape of American sports today.
I finished this book about an hour ago. It did not turn out as I thought it would, from my judging of the book by its cover. The author took it in a different direction, with a depth of theme I’d not imagined. I really enjoyed it, and will pass it along to others.
