I signed both as an author and a library worker. We show up for you and your freedom to read every day, in large ways and in small ways. An organization like HarperCollins that has a loud voice should be showing up for the freedom to read whenever and however it can.

In 2022, @michaelleali.bsky.social and i met in a video green room as part of an online Pride book promo event from HarperCollins. He’s a super guy and i’m so proud to join him by signing this letter to HarperCollins, asking them to support libraries and free access to books.

I donated! Will you?
They are being so reasonable here so I'll scream about it: FFTRP lead a huge coalition, including @authorsabb.bsky.social to make this happen. It was back breaking labor to fight a bill that could be a DISASTER for the fight against book bans nationwide. Heroes.

For god sake, pls donate to FFTRP.
Florida’s 2025 Legislative Session will be extended to finish up the budget, but anything that didn’t cross the finish line tonight should be dead—including
HB 1539/SB 1692.

Thank you to all who made sure your opposition known over the last 60 days. They’ll be back, but tonight we get the W!

I don’t understand why HarperCollins refused to join other major publishers and sign the letter to Congress in support of IMLS.

So, I wrote a letter to HarperCollins.

It's hard to explain to people outside this fight that Texas is currently trying to ban kids from using public libraries... but they are; it's passed out of committee, and it's going to a floor vote.

🚨If you know ANYONE in Texas it's time for them to call their reps and demand NO ON HB3225🚨
Bad. Despite the voucher debate, the Tx State Affairs committee met and voted FOR HB3225. This bill would require public libraries to have age restrictions and cordone off parts of the library as inaccessible to teens. @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social @penamerica.bsky.social @everylibrary.bsky.social

JKR is 🗑️ and Harry Potter is not worth the nostalgia if it hurts trans folks…

So try one of these (even better) books to fill that hole in your heart!

Similar vibes (magic, friendship, found family, and/or boarding school) but significantly more inclusive!! About 2/3rds of these authors are queer:
