I cannot post myself into being loved but I will try

The truth is that the happiest day of my life is not the day I had the most sex or got the most high or the day I experienced the highest volume of chemical reactions associated with happiness, it was the day when I realized that I was spiritually prepared to accept happiness and be worthy of it.
This is hilarious because I distinctly remember the process of aging out of power rangers because it stopped doing cool shit like magic dinosaurs and started being about gay loser shit like trucks and space ships
i liked star trek and thunderbirds and so i loved lightspeed rescue and immediately fell off power rangers even before aging out when i realised there was stupid animal dinosaur bullshit in there and not just cool things like fire trucks or trains or space shuttles

It's very dumb that this worked on me but someone here on Bluesky was like "pretend for 1 second JKR was doing all this bullshit about Black Women you'd instantly cloc her for how disgusting and hateful she is@
Someone defending their ability to love Harry Potter without supporting JK Rowling saying “if Toriyama was on the Epstein list, people could still love Dragon Ball”

1) that’s a hell of a hypothetical to suggest

2) based on how people reacted to Neil Gaiman this last year, I don’t know if I agree.

Not liking something because it has an annoying fanbase is a skill issue, full stop. You can simply... not participate! Don't go on reddit and type "r/ThingIEnjoy" and read the comments! Insane to deprive yourself of the music of Radiohead because of a college guy being rude once 20 years ago!

There's a very small handful of Real Adults who are doing their jobs in the government and "Director of the FBI" is one of those jobs that requires and adult and Kash Patel simply does NOT 'got it'.
BREAKING NEWS: MS NOW EXCLUSIVE | Trump is weighing the ouster of Kash Patel, according to sources.

If I had to spend money on your "lore" then it's not cannon lol sorry
I don’t know if it only makes sense without the periphery stuff, but Nier has books, stage plays, etc. I once asked Taro about this and how are English fans supposed to keep up and he looked confused and asked “Why would you need to keep up? Who needs all of that?”
After "film trilogy that dropped a critical plot point exclusively via timed Fortnite event" and "video game series whose story only makes sense if you're aware of the events of a canon pachinko machine", I feel like there are whole frontiers of user-hostile narrative design waiting to be explored.

One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.

The worst part of being a part of the online gaming community is The Giant Bomb-ification of Games Media. There are people with full on games journalism jobs whose entire understanding of games or even whole genres come from a Giant Bomb stream 8 years ago treated as a personal experience and fact.
My even more unpopular opinion is unless you have personally experienced the thing, you should probably refrain from having an opinion on it.

We need to return to shaming people for parroting YouTube/TikTok with stuff like "When I want your opinion, I'll just find the YouTuber who gave it to you."

Whenever I say this, people get Really Mad, but it's true. Same of any other art, too. You have to read the book, watch the film, see the painting, listen to the song, whatever.

I'm sorry, but watching a video about it on YouTube is not enough. You have not experience the art.
"you have not played the game unless you've played the game" is one of my more annoying but unshakable opinions
the whole "don't play the game, just watch a video on youtube that will explain its story to you" is so disheartening because the issue of accessibility is genuinely really important but it's always just people who want to be spoon-fed nicely quantifiable information

NGL I'm crafting a thesis RE arrested development, perpetual childhood, and the breakpoint at which gamers in their late 30's and 40's suddenly realize that all Nintendo games are baby games for babies, they aren't getting worse, we're all just too old for children's toys and children's music.
where are the levels in mario odyssey that require you to use your full moveset. where are the interesting dungeons in zelda. and where is literally anything at all in mario kart world lol

I have first hand intel from a current US army captain who told me that Chinese drone swarms are the single scariest "enemy scenario" on the planet and that tons and tons of research and tech is dedicated to beating them and currently we basically cant do it without a full EMP which bricks our stuff
eventually i would like to sit down and really analyze how differently FPV drone warfare works in “relatively wide-open farmland and deserts” (Ukraine and Sudan) versus “dense jungle” (Myanmar) because hoo boy it is rather different
Russian drone footage of a forest that Ukraine cut down to function as an obstacle to Russian advances. The trees would be ruined by fighting anyway; all these downed trees mean Russia can't use it for cover, and can't drive through it. And even walking through it would be pretty awful.

This will be one of the funnier things to try to explain to new generations: "yeah there was a decade where nothing worked because we all kept using the Machine That Lies To You... why did we keep using? Oh they told us we had to!"

"Why would we ever expect things to get better? Technology improving, information transfer, automation... none of this should lead to a higher quality of life! We should all toil and drudge forever until the sun explodes!" dunce cap, sir, back of the class
Of course in many respects everyone's life could be better. But that was always the case. There was never a time when life was particularly better than now.

So at what point in recent years did we start to expect that the government would take care of everything? And why?

David Baszucki, CEO of Roblox, at the height of media attention to Roblox's utter failure at child safety, amidst a flurry of lawsuits, dismissed all that with "parents shouldn't let their kids use Roblox if they're worried" and pivoted to talking about how Roblox would be an ideal dating platform.

I've only been using reddit for about a year or so but one thing I've noticed in that time is that I genuinely believe one of the reasons books are getting worse is that if someone strings together two paragraphs with some stilted prose they will get 5,000 upvotes about their "beautiful writing"
