The reason people yassified Aloy but no one tried that bullshit with Ellie is because Ellie is a real character written with vigor and tenacity and Aloy has the personality of a wooden doll who was recently turned into a real girl but doesn't have a dolls playful sense of humor. The Sauceless Hero!

Such a weird film. It perfectly captures bits of all the precious Alien films, and genuinely contributes some of the prettiest shots in series! But it also feels like an AI composite of the movies... and the baby alien was stupid and dumb. Calee Spany has no juice or sauce to speak of, AI Rook Sucks

First and foremost you can really feel the Whedon all over this thing (plot makes absolutely no sense). Weaver's performance here is just so bizarre that it oscillates between stupid and fucking sweet every other scene. Unlike 3 I think the graphics really hold up here, and the slimy practicals rock

So conflicted about this one. The world building, the sets, all of this feels like such a huge piece of the puzzle. The mood and atmosphere of this disgusting oppressive shit hole do a better job of creating the universe than 2 and expanding it with religious themes, but good god is it a bummer film

This movie is a SEQUEL! More sets! More characters! More worldbuilding! I couldn't believe how much more MOVIE they cram into this picture. The entire franchise spawning within this film. Bishop is the best robot in the series, and the heavier focus on action works great for the bigger setpieces.

Literally Perfect. I genuinely lack criticism. I was so impressed by how the film doesn't linger on Ripley at all, there's no indication she's the heroine until suddenly everyone else is dead. There is only the faintest glimpse of the greater world, Weyland-Yutani, or anything else. Peak Cinema.

I don't understand the point of this fucken movie man. It's so needlessly cruel in a way that doesn't even feel like horror, it just feels like a punishment. It's like whatever Prometheus promised us was more than enough to carry the series forward, then Covenant is like "oh ho, actually never mind"

For 👻 sPoOpY sPeAsOn 🎃 this year I decided to watch the Alien series, most of which I had seen but not for literally 20 years or more. I started with the prequels because why not. Prometheus is one of the most visually compelling and narratively frustrating films I have ever watched.

Platonic ideal of a pokemon to me is a creature that is composed of organic traits recognizable as animal parts but combined in a way that suits its aesthetic needs before its evolutionary or physical needs. Gen 1 designs feel too simplified (ex Charmander, Squirtle), but Mudkip is a little weirder.

We had an Alexios pilot who was super excited about this and it did really well the first week until we all figured this out and he took the deck apart immediately because it just didn't really work anymore, not for cEDH. Slicer is the same thing but doesn't have this problem.
