Until 2010 NZ had only scored 2 goals at any World Cup. Against Scotland. Who still won 5-2.

In 2010 NZ went out in the group round.

As did Italy in the same group.

But NZ were unbeaten.

That time I was on my way to France on holiday - with my son’s half Italian godmother!
OMG. That’s NZ *and* Scotland in the World Cup for the first time since I was 6 years old.

Bet they’re in the same group again.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

I actually went to France 98. With my mother. No matches. Kind of failed to realise the Coupe de Monde was happening. A few days in Paris where a friend of hers was celebrating her 40th then a week in the Ardeche - close enough to Marseilles for there to be a decent contingent of Scotland fans.

Brian Burnett on Radio Scotland tonight. Theme is best debut album.

First song after the news at 7 was Raintown.

Suspect I’m not the only one now listening to the album instead of Radio Scotland.

If the government chooses to keep the 2 child limit and spend money on vouchers and parenting programmes instead, child poverty will rise and this will be a conscious and deliberate political choice in defiance of all the evidence
Scrapping the cap entirely is both good policy *and* good politics.

Half measures will "save" some money short-term, but will piss *everybody* off and still leave very large numbers of children suffering from a policy designed to make them poorer.

This would be an important development. This summer, @commissionerhr.coe.int highlighted that the 2-child limit was "an outlier in Europe and beyond" and that scrapping it was "among the most effective and urgent steps to lift children out of poverty"

Donald Trump is not going to sue the BBC for $1 billion

The real story today is both Reform/Farage and the Conservatives/Badenoch talking today about radically changing the BBC

This is the real agenda

I’ve had agonising neck pain by half way through the week for months.

Got a new office chair on Wednesday. Access to work specialist one because I have a lower spinal injury.

No pain tonight despite two desk days in a row!

Old chair wasn’t actually level anymore it turns out.

Jeezo I had aunts and uncles who weren’t even relatives, they just emigrated on the same boat.
Whole of Ireland goes ”what do you mean a relative like that isn’t his aunt, of course it’s his aunt”

Today's wikipedia page (their traffic is down due to people using LLM chatbots boo) is the history of paper, because your Sunday scaries might require an absorbing distraction.

Fun fact: US letter size is related to Dutch papermakers having a 44" arm span.

My new special ergonomic chair has been ordered and I am *so* looking forward to it. Finally figure out the old one is broken enough to be on a lean and that was causing excrutiating neck pain if I did more than 2 days in a row sitting at my desk.
