European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

Where are global CO2 emissions heading?

Middle-of-the-road? But just because we have followed the SSP2-45, SSP4-60 path for 10 years, does not mean we follow it for the next 70 years.

Policy & technology have pushed the world away from the high-end, but 2.7C in 2100 & rising is not a good outcome!

NEW from me: A recent study finds that fully electrified homes in Handsworth, built to adhere to a draft version of the Future Homes standard, put less pressure on the grid than researchers expected.

Crazy to wake up to the news that the Mossmorran plant owned by Exxon is closing in Fife. I was there during the research for Drifting North, talking to people who lived with the impacts of the plant. After Grangemouth and this you wonder what is next, but this isn't decarbonisation either!

Why home insurance is unaffordable, even in places without wildfires or hurricanes
Some of the country's highest home insurance prices are in the central U.S., a region generally considered to be protected from climate-driven disasters such as wildfires and hurricanes.
