I took this photo 18 months ago, sailing through the Sound of Mull on a near empty boat as snow clouds dipped and swirled over Lismore. Was on my way to do interviews for the Drifting North project, praying the car would make it.

There’s a scam going round with someone pretending to be Wigtown book fest contacting writers to obtain money for fictional events.

Top tip to influencers who cannot afford to rent a private jet for content. The simple solution is just flying to the Western Isles. Also, if you are nice the steward will give you a caramel wafer and a cup of tea.

Made it. It’s a day for staying inside and drinking coffee in Lewis. I’m on at 2pm at An Lanntair, and hanging about afterwards so come and say hello.

It’s 6am and I am off to Lewis to speak at the Faclan Book Fest. Thankyou to everyone at An Lanntair for inviting me, and to Loganair for getting me there after travelling the length of the UK. This boy loves a turboprop.

On Britain’s worst trains down to Bristol for a chat with @dudleymarianna.bsky.social at Bookhaus tonight on renewable futures and for whom the wind blows.

Been a bit subdued but as today is release day why not listen to this radio interview I did at my mum’s kitchen table on climate change, why we teach, and why we need to co-produce the future www.instagram.com/reel/DQUtOkh...

A pleasure to talk climate change and anthropology today in St Andrews and Dundee at Waterstones. When I set out to do this project we wanted to take sociological ideas to the public and it is so nice to get to speak to people.

It’s Bookshop Day. Bookshops - especially indies - are important as they not only sell books but often function as hubs for other cultural events as public culture provision is slashed. Supporting a bookshop isn’t just about supporting authors, it’s a direct vote for culture in your community.

If you’re in Dundee on the 23 of October it’s the first date for our UK tour.
