Alberta's Ministry of Education says it is blacklisting CityNews unless it agrees to the UCP government's demand to unpublish a news article and publicly apologize to them
I am writing to advise that Minister Nicolaides, his staff, and the Education and Childcare Department will not be accepting questions, interview requests, or requests for comment from CityNews Calgary or any affiliated outlets or reporters, nor will they be sent invitations to embargoed technical briefings until a formal apology is issued to Minister Nicolaides for the politicized reporting of his hike of Mount Kilimanjaro, undertaken in memory of his late sister. As stated in my earlier response to CityNews, politicizing a deeply personal act of remembrance was profoundly disrespectful. Despite the purpose of the trip being clearly explained, your reporter showed a clear disregard for context, sensitivity, and professional responsibility in pursuing this line of questioning. The attempt to manufacture a narrative about provincial flags and separatism is not only baseless but also demonstrates a reckless disregard for the truth. If there were a genuine interest in the Minister's stance on the unity of Canada, a direct question would have been the appropriate and professional course of action. Your reporter was offered that opportunity but instead chose to prioritize sensationalism over facts. That was a deliberate editorial choice. This type of reporting is beneath the standards Albertans expect. If CityNews wishes to restore communication with the Ministry of Education and Childcare, the following conditions must be met: 1) The story is removed from publication. 2) A formal apology is issued by both the reporter and the editor of CityNews Calgary. Until this conduct is fully acknowledged and addressed, CityNews has demonstrated that it cannot be trusted to engage with this office in a manner that is ethical, responsible, or respectful. I tagged Radio Canada and Patrice Roy.

They didn't issue a correction until after 2:00pmET today.

Radio-Canada apologizes after it aired a photo circulated by anti-trans hate groups online, falsely claiming it was a photo of the Tumbler Ridge shooter. Damaging and irresponsible, and this apology raises more questions about journalistic process imho.
