Resetting all the filters to "I'm an adult who has no fear of cursing", has resurrected many of the Irish #Speirgorm that'd vanished from my feed
this thing hides posts it judges as ‘rude’, by some US standard. Thereby silencing most of the conversations in Ireland and Scotland, at least.
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

Machine translations never work anyways. It's a glorified dictionary that doesn't understand context

Best example for English is unironically, "shit."

A native English speaker knows batshit, apeshit, dogshit, horseshit, and bullshit are all different concepts.

A dictionary thinks you're at a zoo.
I would like Countess and Skin Thief available in French BUT they must be translated by a human who gets paid.

I work with words, and I do not support taking work away from translators. Translation isn't just Word equivalent computing. I don't want that for my books or translators.

Bon, je n'en peux plus de soupirer. 🙃

Fascinated, as an older woman openly watched reality TV on her phone! She left and was replaced by a MUCH older gentleman who is either a TikTok fiend or who has been saving all the little videos people send him for just this moment, that he might share his experience with us
Sitting in the waiting area to get what will hopefully be my last MRI and listen, I was barraged with enough “smartphones are ruining you youth“ articles that I’m gonna need reparations in the form of “Wow Old People Will Just Play Shit Out Loud” op eds

[To the tune of Eleanor Rigby]

Big Ozymandy,
Look at him stood on his plinth in the sand if you dare,
Time to despair
Once upon a desert sandy
As through winds the trav'ling man he
Spied the face of Ozymandy
Lying, simply lying there
Suddenly there was some writing
Pon the plinth that he was sighting
That the sand and time were blighting
Quoth the statue, "Now despair"
There was an old man you could gaze
At his works in despair in a daze
If you looked upon them
And were mere mortal men
'Ozymandias mighty', it says
