Reminds me of Tiananmen Square.

If you aspire to be the tank driver in Tiananmen Square, you might be a domestic terrorist.

My sense, based on research I've been working on for about four years now, is that there are hundreds of thousands of American Jews, maybe millions, who would find their views reflected in this piece. We ought to be able to do something about that.

I'm a Zionist. I support Palestinian rights. My campus has no space for people who believe in peace
Amid debates over anti-Zionism and Palestinian rights, those who want genuine, lasting peace in the Middle East are struggling on campus.

The ICE agent who murdered Renee Good *is* a trainer.

More training doesn't help when the people you're training -- and the people training them -- are trigger-happy, bloodthirsty, undisciplined thugs.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

This moment in history provides us with incontrovertible evidence that all the conservatives who claim to be extremely devoted to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, and opposed to the encroachment of tyranny, are completely and totally full of shit.

It's all white supremacy and greed.

🚨 Breaking from the US Senator for Connecticut. 👇

There you have it.

ICE has never been about immigration enforcement.

It's a weapon used to brutalize Americans and stoke enough fear so that Trump can rig the elections and usher in dictatorship.

At least 600 clergy came to MPLS in the freezing temps, dropping everything from their overwhelming jobs

including like 100 rabbis

to be there in solidarity.

The Bible commands us to care for im/migrants at least 36 times, more than any other commandment.

"Thou shalt not murder" is also a thing.
Religion note: those who have been protesting DHS/ICE in the streets — those Sec. Hegseth labels “lunatics” here — have included hundreds of clergy *just this week.* religionnews.com/2026/01/23/i...

Like January 6, where there is also lots of video from multiple angles and they've been lying about it from the beginning.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

The only thing that keeps this from being a Fools of Chelm level of panic and incompetence is that the Fools of Chelm weren't also bloodthirsty.
NYT says ICE shot him in the back:

An “agent aims his own firearm at Mr. Pretti’s back and appears to fire one shot at close range… A third agent unholsters a weapon. Both agents appear to fire additional shots into Mr. Pretti as he lies motionless… At least 10 shots appear to have been fired…”

If you tried to run this past an IRB, your protocol would be rejected and you ought to be subjected to an ethics inquiry, with dismissal from your position a likely outcome.

You don't get to commit murder in the guise of "research."

I've worked with the Siena Research Institute. These are good people doing scientific polling the way it's supposed to be done. That doesn't guarantee accurate findings, but it also doesn't stack the deck in favor of a demented fascist with a gigantic ego and no shame.

And now he's suing them.

There's absolutely nothing that's rational or cost effective about flying detainees to other states. The sole reason is to make life hell for these people and their families, and to try and do as much illegal shit as possible to them by keeping them mobile, unavailable to lawyers, etc.
At least 31 flights have departed Minneapolis this month, the vast majority bound for El Paso, with a smaller number to Houston, Texas. This surge reflects the transfer of people with valid refugee status from their homes in Minnesota to detention centers in Texas.

#SCOTUS is likely to do the right thing in the Lisa Cook case.

But it's worth bearing in mind that this idea that the Fed is some bespoke exception to the unitary executive theory is utterly incoherent as a matter of both law and history—and is really just proof that the UET is itself bollocks:

A constitutional principle like the "unitary executive theory" isn't worth all that much if the Supreme Court can conjure new, unprincipled exceptions to it by simply asserting that they exist.
