There is something to be said for having something that could consume as much energy as you can offer it these days—raising kids, a creative practice, community involvement, etc., or any combination of these. Something that can (even if it doesn’t always) break the scrolling, that’s a counterweight.

Logging back off. if you see me on here, point and tell me to log out. I got work to do, kids to hang with. That's the best i can do right now. I will not sacrifice my subjectivity to an algorithm, even if it's a better designed one than other social media sites. I need it for my heart and art.

Hi! The urge to doomscroll is understandable, but maybe it's worth setting a timer or logging off?

Have you had something to eat yet or a big glass of water? Is there something you need to do before the end of the work day?

I know how hard it can be to try and focus right now. One thing at a time

Sometimes all you can do is make the world 0.0000000000001% less awful by being a good person and it feels very meaningless but it’s also the only thing that really matters

The fact of the matter is that exposing yourself to traumatic content is not praxis. It should be documented. It should inform. But I won’t trust the state about this because these mfers have been lying about their violence since the 1800s. I don’t need to traumatize myself to know that.
the administration is lying about every detail of today’s killing and we know that partly because of the video evidence. if the footage feels traumatizing to see, sorry, but that’s reality, and you don’t get to opt out because it makes you feel bad

I didn't know what the video was and just...do not watch it if you are sensitive to violence. I'm just so incredibly sad. it never had to be like this.

Every second the murderer is not arrested is another second for feds to hide him in a place that would create a jurisdictional fight. He's on video killing a person. You have to arrest this guy an hour ago, but you might still have time now.

(quoting so i don't explode the notifs) I don't know if you're aware or a fan of "The History of the Germans" podcast, but the way he explains events––like oathbreakers in my opinion––really demonstrates how the choices that were made were CHOICES and that they could've made different ones!
This is also a problem with the discipline, of colleagues who chafe at finding “relevance” to our work. It requires some work to help people understand nuance and contingency and a lot of people don’t wanna answer the “why” and “how” and “who cares” questions

First time SA1 has ever been showcased! Sadx has been on stage many times, but I assure you you're NOT prepared for the tricks the OG has up its sleeves!
Sonic Adventure (Sonic's Story) will be run a few hours later at 2pm EST, run by @withermin.bsky.social. The run goes for an hour and is a classic that is worth checking out, especially if you've never seen a Sonic Adventure run.

Doing the dishes this morning and realizing how beautifully human chores are. I’d be damned before I let a robot take them away from me.

Now laundry on the other hand….

I wrote a piece about the farce of “state sovereignty” and how the UN was always designed to engender a new imperial order to take the place of the original colonial one but it never found a home.

If this sounds like something your pub wants hit me up. Might be time to dig it up…
This is not the first US imperial atrocity for oil —let’s not exceptionalize it— but wow is is it awful. And the violation of Venezuelans domestically in the name of a sovereign borders they actually dgaf about.

As Aimee Cesaire put it— the price of imperialism is the empire’s own civilization.

If there’s anything I’m learning from history right now it’s that history is ever fluid and human choices are never deterministic.

I cannot overstate how exhausting it is to try and deradicalize gen z reactionaries. You have to function as both their teacher and therapist, you can't even use certain vocabulary because they've been thoroughly conditioned to switch their brains off when they hear words like "patriarchy".
