In the foreground we can see a juicy burger and a slice of chocolate cream pie, both delicious looking. A waitress is taking the fat woman's order. CAPTION: NEXT... FAT WOMAN: Could I get a half cup of oatmeal instead of a full cup? No butter. PANEL 3 The fat woman, cross-eyed with exhaustion, is in a gym, using a stationary bicycle. CAPTION: She does this for an entire year FAT WOMAN: Puff... puff... PANEL 4 The fat woman, wrapped in a towel in a locker room, is standing on a scale and looking very pleased. CAPTION: Until at last... FAT WOMAN (thought): Wow! I've lost thirty pounds! "Zero willpower." I've certainly shown them! PANEL 5 The fat woman is walking out of the grocery store and the same couple walks out behind her. The fat woman facepalms. CAPTION: VINDICATION! THIN MAN: Oh my god, just look at her! Does she ever exercise? THIN WOMAN: She must have zero willpower. CHICKEN FAT WATCH Panel 1: The posters in the supermarket window say "seasonal meat" and (with a picture of an apple) "Doctors HATE this one weird trick." The beer the thin guy is carrying is named "bière." Panel 2: The posters in the background are all about how great the food at this diner is. A first-place ribbon is framed next to an article with the headline "Local Restaurant Named Best In US" and a photo of "Proud Chef Grandpa."

CHEF: Welcome! Today we’ll be making “toxic masculinity stew.” Yum! Panel 2 The chef stirs some neon green stuff in a pan. CHEF: We’ll start by sautéing some feelings. We’ll bury these at the bottom of the pot, so no one will ever see them! Panel 3 The chef displays a cracked green egg. CHEF: Add a delicate sense of manhood. The slightest thing can make boys feel that this has been shattered! What fun! Panel 4 The Chef mixes something in a bowl. CHEF: In a separate bowl, put ht eidea that “the sex” is something held by women. Mix it with the belief that if a man can’t get “the sex” from a woman, one way or the other… Then he’s not a real man at all! Panel 5 The chef’s hand holding a shaker (like a salt shaker) and sprinkling neon green specs into the stew. CHEF: Now sprinkle in lots of gear of being soft or gentle or vulnerable. Nothing spoils this dish quicker than boys accepting these parts of themselves! PANEL 6 The Chef holds out a spoon towards the viewer. The spoon is dripping with a thick, neon-green liquid. CHEF: Simmer for 10-40 years and there you have it… a lovely toxic masculinity stew! It tastes repulsive and bitter, but don’t worry. We’ll force it down. KICKER PANEL A tiny panel below the bottom of the strip shows a woman yelling at the cartoonist. WOMAN: Criticizing how society harms men means you’re anti-male!

Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.
Not being able to make a living just from your art doesn't make you a failure as an artist, it just means you're a totally normal working artist.

The thing about universal basic income is: it works. Every time. Every study. The participants, the community, the local economy: all benefit.

ahh! a small fluffy ghost sits on a hardwood floor staring directly at us. but actually... the longer we take it in, the more cute the ghost becomes. one could even mistake this little guy for a golden retriever puppy wearing a sheet with eye, ear, and mouth holes cut out of it. even though he gave us a fright, we would still pet this ghost puppy.
