I find meaning on a simple path: Be the change you want to see in the world. Passionate about many things, but especially climate action, walkable communities, active transportation, democracy, and respect for others. I also like to laugh.
"The Trump administration has made clear its opposition toward global climate policies that it believes harm fossil fuel interests. Promoting the sale of U.S.-produced oil, gas and coal is a top administration priority." Protecting #fossilfuel interests, not you.

Trump Officials Accused of Bullying Tactics to Kill a Climate Measure

As politicians, bureaucrats, & billionaires say a few degrees of #globalwarming never hurt anybody, conditions on the ground say otherwise. Health impacts of 1.5°C of warming don't bode well for double that this century. @grist.org reports on the latest report from @thelancet.com:
‘A devastating global audit’ shows how climate change is undermining the health of millions.

Extreme heat now kills one person every minute, according to a sweeping new report by the British medical journal The Lancet.

A big reason things are so screwed up is too many people listen to billionaires -- especially those with very wrong, out-of-touch views of what's really happening with #climate & what we need to do about it. If you read the #BillGates letter, read this response from @billmckibben.bsky.social.

Hope & despair are always swirling around us & neither is an irrational choice. Like the Tao ☯️, there is light in the darkest moments & darkness is never far in the brightest of times. The tragedy unfolding in the Caribbean this week with #melissa is a harbinger of the world Trump and his oil-soaked administration are willing to accept to line their own pockets. There will eventually be no place to hide, but for now they gleefully put profit over people or planet.
Trump has never been supportive of green technologies, but in his second term he has made a concerted effort to wreck climate policies. The world now has a carbon bully, as one expert put it.

As a #climateactivist in GA, I'm proud of our progress on #greenhousegas #emissions. Despite political headwinds & an influx of people & industry, we're moving in the right direction. Data centers are a big threat -- & transportation remains stubborn. But we can do it.

We make life needlessly fragile by building places where car-free living is impossible. When necessities like a job, groceries, healthcare, etc. are reachable by bike or foot, losing a car is inconvenient, not a catastrophe. Streets that are dangerous outside an automobile aren't built for everyone.
Drives me nuts that things like bike lanes get painted as luxury goods or harbingers of gentrification when making it easy and convenient to get around your city by bike could save low-income households thousands of dollars a year.
One of the less discussed harms of car-centric planning is that it imposes a serious financial burden on working families. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/20/b...

It need not be a cliff. I was disappointed to see the #evtaxcredit go, but it's not the end of the world. I bought my Audi e-Tron in 2023 without a tax credit, & I'm extremely glad I did. I'll do just about anything to avoid driving an ICE vehicle now. Let's focus on the positive:

All true -- mine is usually the only bike at my coffee shop, unless I've invited a friend to meet me.
Does your local coffee shop look like this?

If not, it’s probably because:
1) zoning created large distances between housing & shops.
2) the streets between housing & shops are unsafe for biking.
3) there isn’t any/enough secure bike parking
