I've started research on historic (preWW2) women who worked on volcanology/magmatic rocks. This includes anyone who was traveling to and writing about/observing/drawing/engaging with the landscape in myriad ways.

I'm building a list for further investigation. Will share soon! Any tip offs welcome!

I've been on the road so I'm behind the times—but if you wanted to destroy US science, I can think of no more expedient action.

Blatant unconstitutionality aside, fuck this backwards forwards and sideways.

How come colonoscopy prep evening had to occur during “awesome aurora” evening??? lol 😂

I am on my way home to Toronto and the aurorae are absolutely phenomenal.

If you are anywhere in the northern half of the continent, get outside and look up! Or better still, put your camera on a 10 second exposure and point it up.

As a lucky survivor of rectal cancer, I get colonoscopies annually (woo next week!).. they are a piece of cake & so is the prep. Especially compared to the radiation/surgery/chemo that could occur if you are diagnosed with a colorectal tumor. Trust me. #f_ckcancer
If you’re over 45 and haven’t been screened for colon cancer (or are overdue to schedule your next screening) consider this your sign.

I am 51 and just had my first colonoscopy. Here I am waiting to be wheeled in and given the good drugs. 1/2

Vote for #molybdenite! It’s fun to say, the name tells you it has molybdenum in it, and it’s pretty! Stockwork veins of it are my favorite, like these from Climax Mine in Colorado.

Do not, I repeat, do not, use AI "art" in your talks unless you'd be ok with someone stealing your work and giving you no credit for it.
The amount of AI generated art in slides at this conference, primarily used by older scientists, is killing me. Scientists please. Don’t use these ai platforms to make your figures or slides. They look bad and I have yet to see them meaningfully improve the message of talks.

This is idiotic. So many different ways that this gets done depending on the field and even the individual lab group.

This is good reporting on the disaster in Alaska if you're looking for a reliable summary.

This is a bigger disaster than I think most are realizing. 1500 people have been displaced by the flooding with an exceptionally complicated response and recovery.
