It's important to need to keep in mind that AI is literally making us dumber.

Overreliance on these tools to make decisions undermines our future ability to think critically and make decisions for ourselves effectively. We *need* to continue to exercise our minds in order to retain our humanity.
Bailout Abundance.
hey guys isn't it weird how all of the abundance guys in DC started talking about the US government needing to back US AI tech companies at the same time and now government backed entities are now looking into doing this

What kind of fresh hell is this?
“‘Audio updates are meant to be short and sweet (a few sentences here and there), tailored to your interests and your social graph, and designed to both inspire and inform you…The vibe we’re going for is more ‘Waze meets Gossip Girl,’ and less ‘Wikipedia in your ears.’”

I'd suggest it's "misuse" of "misuse framing". Developers and vendors are the primary "misusers". Their products are the misuse.
what the “misuse” framing does is shift the onus on individual users when shit goes wrong leaving AI developers and vendors off the hook

And a hot rotisserie chicken is often cheaper than a raw one!
You can’t even use SNAP to buy a hot rotisserie chicken unless you live in a state with a special waiver.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

I like cheap butts and I can not lie.
You other smokers can't deny.
I don't need these many butts, but when they're only $1.88/lb...

Who the fuck wants this?

Sure, it's vaguely technically impressive that it can mash all of these words together and maybe even occasionally get things right...but *even if it worked* what's the value proposition?

*Even if this were all true*...Who the hell wants to waste their time reading it?

This is why I've completely abandoned several pieces of software that I'd used for 25+ years within the past several months.

I've zero interest in using tools that have me swearing at them daily "Will you fuck off?"
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO FUCKING REWRITE WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN!"

Why would anyone want this?
It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...

This is a great article that puts structure around why and how AI generated slop is slop.

This one in particular just grinds my gears - asking me to waste time reading *nothing* because you can't be bothered to communicate is a direct assault.

In general, you can't reasonably cite things you don't read.
People who say "you can't possibly read everything you cite" are saying a lot about themselves, IMO.

It doesn't have to be a heavy lift. I spend about half an hour a day processing new-to-me papers by organizing them in my reference managers & adding topical tags so I can create bibliographies.

Truly some spectacularly disingenuous doublespeak from "Best Beer" here.

Absolute dystopic AI assault on quality beverages.

Insisting that evaluators select sloppified funhouse-mirror perversions of their tasting notes in place of their honest and nuanced feedback.

What Happened When AI Came for Craft Beer
A prominent beer competition introduced an AI-judging tool without warning. The judges and some members of the wider brewing industry were pissed.

I’m skeptical of AI as a quality content generation machine, but if you’re going to write the same article with the same charts every year, GameHasChangedGPT might actually work for you.
