I remember when the very idea of something called the "Department of Homeland Security" sounded fascist. We knew back then what it meant and what it would turn into. I'm very sad to have been right 20-some years ago, and I only wish I could have done more to fight it.

This seems significant: not a FORMER DHS official, but a SENIOR (current) one saying the officer who fired acted counter to training.

The only way I could get the #Prime cancellation to stick was removing the payment method from my account. Then they sent me alarm emails about how service was going to be disrupted due to payment issues. It was hilarious!
The FTC accused Amazon of duping millions of customers into signing up for Prime and putting them through a labyrinth to cancel. A settlement was reached in September.
