We are ready to help and support our neighbors. The Dem leadership shouldn't remove federal action as one of our best tools for doing so.

Chuck Schumer Helps Pull Democrats Back From Brink Of Courage

Time for Schumer to go. Will be writing @vanhollen.senate.gov and @alsobrooks.senate.gov (who have been more than commendable over the past 10 months) today.

I had really hoped that the elections last Tuesday would have emboldened the leadership to fight for people instead of being chickenshit
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

These ads were CONSTANT during college football telecasts.
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.

My outfit for the day. Played some video of Julia Child making an omelette at the start of chem of cooking class. My wife and I certainly enjoyed twinning for Halloween this year.

My wife has volunteered at a local food bank for years and confirms what many of you have probably heard: in this case, straight cash is a good donation if you can do it.

The food banks have better access and buying power than individuals do, and can try to address item imbalances as they see them.

Here’s the most important thing (h/t @murray.senate.gov):

There is black letter statutory law, passed by Congress, that says fed employees MUST receive back pay after the shutdown ends.
2/
The letter of the law is as plain as can be—federal workers, including furloughed workers, are entitled to their backpay following a shutdown.

Another baseless attempt to try and scare & intimidate workers by an administration run by crooks and cowards.
A draft White House memo, reported by Axios, reinterprets the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act, or GEFTA, to stiff federal workers on furlough amid the longest shutdown in U.S. history. trib.al/fWCjnLQ

We can find suitable land with sunlight, water, and nutrients to grow plants, wait years to harvest the biomass and burn it for energy, hope to capture the CO₂ with carbon capture and storage technology, and find a suitable spot to bury the CO₂ permanently.

OR we can use solar panels.

M*sk is Sauron in just about any metaphor that has some thought put into it. He is incredibly powerful. Trying to woo politicians and the rich and regular people with promises of more power/wealth.

Be like the good beings of Middle Earth and reject his ring.

This is a REALLY great article from @jayasaxena.com, and I absolutely LOVE the final line.

In my chem of cooking class, I go on an on about that the students are learning this stuff to be able to make the foods that they like (whatever they are) the way that they like them (however that may be).
