Older generations spent a lot less time parenting. Millennial dads spend nearly as much time parenting as Boomer moms did. Millennial and Gen X moms way more.

Here is the percentage of white males age 30-39 working in professional, technical, and managerial jobs between 1850 and 2024. The current generation has not been squeezed out of such jobs. If there is any lost generation here, I would say it is boomers who were 30-39 in 1990. (@ipums.bsky.social)

Here's a great write-up of my talk the other night. In the U.S., population panic over low birth rates is a smokescreen designed to provide cover for policies that are facially pronatalist but really about reestablishing gender, race, religion, ability, LGBTQ, nativity, etc hierarchies.
