You know that time that a major British news organisation mistakenly sought out a random dude who happened to share a name with a former New York mayor in order to go after a left wing New York mayoral candidate? Did anyone resign?

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE - Bolts
A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

There are times when I think Nick Sirianni is a pretty good coach who just gets too much hate because he looks and acts like a punchable doofus

Then there are games like this when he makes the dumbest decision possible and barely gets away with it

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Sandwich verdict wasn’t jury nullification. It was failure to prove the required “reasonable fear of physical injury” in a case where the agent was wearing A BULLETPROOF VEST. The only crime was the waste of resources on this case. My thoughts in @MSNBCDaily.

Opinion | The sandwich thrower was wrong. But Jeanine Pirro was, too.
To establish a forcible assault, jurors were required to find that Dunn caused “reasonable apprehension of immediate bodily harm.” That allegation was laughable.

Scientific breakthroughs are rarely unique; someone else would’ve made them soon enough. But when prominent scientists cause harm, that harm isn’t inevitable; the world might simply have been better had the harm not been inflicted.

Ding-dong!

Cheney and Watson both pass on this week. These things are supposed to come in threes.

🤞
Yes, some people's legacies are complicated. For example, Watson. After all, though he was racist, don't forget his other traits. For example, he was also sexist. And also anti-semitic. And a data / idea thief. So let's not forget all the different facets.

Witcher: S4 is awful.

It isn't just Cavill's departure. The writing has become awful.

I'm reminded of the last seasons of Game of Thrones. Who are these writers and why are they so terrible?

I feel bad for the main cast. The show used to be so much better.

Me, I was unaware that ICE murdered someone. Fuck.
Practically every day we encounter someone who still has no idea ICE shot and killed someone in Chicago already. This happened before many people tuned in (and many have already tuned out again).
Candles, candy and colorful flowers adorned the ofrenda, or altar, that a couple of dozen people helped build Saturday to honor Silverio Villegas González, the man shot and killed by an ICE agent in northwest suburban Franklin Park nearly two months ago.

Looks like Jay Jones is going to win.

This should have been a slam dunk for Republicans. The text messages he sent were awful. Given his race and VA's recent history of voting for Youngkin, I thought he had no chance.

Perhaps the worm has turned.
The AP has not yet called Virginia's attorney general race, but if you're following at home, here's where we're at:

Jay Jones is up by 3.6% with an estimated 83% reporting.

Half of Arlington, 10% of Fairfax, two-thirds of Hampton are still out; that's a lot of blue territory.

If Jay Jones can win AG race in VA, that's exceptionally bad news for Republicans.

Keeping an eye on it.

I really am just working from the basic premise of political science that public opinion isn’t just measurable — you can and should CREATE it.
This never stops being true, but I’m not sure Ds have ever, at least in my lifetime, learned to apply it for good. *Creating* public opinion either never occurs to them, or if it does, offends their sensibilities? It’s exasperating

So CBS settled Trump’s lawsuit where he frivolously sued because they edited Kamala Harris’s interview so it would fit into their air time.

Then CBS does a 73 minute interview of Trump where they made big edits from the version that was broadcast.

They aired 28 of 73 minutes.
